I'm sure I'll get hate for this but I pulled my stock seats (which weigh 64.5lbs apiece) to install sport seats (which weigh 28lbs apiece). Accounting for the 3lb brackets I needed to fab up to make the sport seats bolt up, this gives me a weight difference of 67 lbs. With the bracket I built, there are only 8 total bolts (13mm and easily reachable) that keep me from swapping back to my stocks for long drives.

I like it! Did you get an airbag light on the dash from not having the connector plugged in anymore?

I did. But no seatbelt lights or buzzers.

If I did it again, I would spring for Corbeau or Sparco. These seats are a little stiff.

Let me know when you are ready to get rid of the driver seat and bracket. I'd be interested actually. I want to do this for the car for drag strip outings and I had already planned it out, however looks like you did everything I want to do anyways! LOL awesome work.

baha, Those brackets were a bitch to make. Unlike every car i have ever put a bracket in before. The front holes were lower than the back, the front inner hole was about 18 degrees shy of 90 degrees in relation to the back holes... it was annoying.

Would seats from an focus rs or st bolt up without a mod bracket?
I would have to see either the bottom of a Focus RS floorboard without seats or the bottom of RS seats, with a tape measure nearby.

Okay okay okay hot shot. You get one and I get one.
Lol, unfortunately the passenger and driver brackets are mirrors of each other. The pass one would only bolt up on the pass side and vise versa.

Exactly I get the driver side and he can figure out what to do with the passenger side. LOL just kidding. Good stuff though man.

Nice work. Catching nothing but admiration for doing this. Its been on my to do list forever, but doing other mods first always took all my spending money away.

Plus I didn't want to do it without getting the airbag sensors tricked with transistors so they don't illuminate.

So did you make a universal bracket for our platform? Or is it specific to the seats you bought as well? One thing I know about doing one off things that are annoying....making more is now easy, the hard part is done. If you care to, I'd buy a front set(driver and passenger) brackets from you. Equally so you also have a lot to do in your goal to under 4000 pounds....I get it if side tracking to make more brackets is of little interest at this point.

Nice work. Hopefully you get the airbag lights to go away.

The plugs under the seats are like 32ish ports, They are massive. It would be a real hassle finding the wire that corresponds with the airbags. On top of that, bridging the wire or a transistor may not do the trick. The underbelly of the seats has multiple mini computers. I imagine the airbag light magic is handled by one of them.

The brackets I made bring the mounting holes up to a level platform. The platform is fairly large (because our seats have a large footprint) so most any sport seats mounting holes would be able to bolt to the platform. It would be easiest to have the mounting pattern beforehand. Essentially I could make a larger platform for multiple seat types (see attached).

All that being said, I don't think anyone on here is willing to pay what it would cost and I imagine only about 2-3 guys would want them.

Definitely 2-3 max lol. I think you should be well on your way to 4000 or under. I weigh 205 and the lightest my car has weighed with me in it was 4319. So 4,114 lbs.
