Not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but I was hoping @PoppaJ and I could have lined up last weekend to see how my LMS car compared to his GH car. His transmission ended up going 6' under and the track closed because of rain, so it wasn't meant to be. Someday!

I always take my car to the Ford dealer since they gave me 3 years of free oil changes and they do all the maintenance, etc. Wonder if they'd let me bring in my own oil to use? What's you top pick, Redline?
Ford/Motorcraft oils have moved over to SN+ as well, but you can ask & make sure the dealer only puts in SN+ oil. Some will let you bring your own, some will not ... Redline (Pro for EB engines), Amsoil, and RP HPS are normally at the top of my list, but I am also very pleased with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. There are subtle differences in noise, mpg, etc. so depending on how sensitive you are to those things, you can pick what you like best.

But really, any brand name full synthetic SN+ oil will work just fine, the question is one of OCI. For example, Mobil1 has the regular oil, the EP oil, and the Annual oil. The regular oil has the lowest OCI, the Annual has the highest. Once you have picked the OCI, pick a good filter to go with. Motorcraft filters do well up to 7,500 miles, but there are a host of full synthetic media filters available now that you can opt to go with and will last 15,000 miles. Purolator Boss definitely works very well.

Hope this thread helped you and glad you love it! I couldn't agree more - I had a hard time finding the correct words to use explaining the shifting!! I still don't get it - how can the shifts be instant, lightning-fast, but not harsh at all?! It's like when watching YouTube videos of an Audi R8 shifting for example! Matt is the man!
This is how I describe it. Nothign against other tuners but my other tune felt like a tuned car. Matt's tune feels like a more expensive car.

Glad it’s working out! How’s the new HPFP running?!

I ran the LMS E30 tune for the first few days. Had some weird things happen, once it felt like it just completely popped out of gear after I slowed down for traffic and quickly tried to accelerate around a car when a spot opened up. Almost got creamed by a car that was coming up on me. Yesterday morning was the first time I actually did a WOT from a full stop, it did the exact same thing that my old V11 tune did. Loss of power like spark to the plugs was cut completely at about 30mph.

Installed the gearhead tune yesterday afternoon, have done multiple 0-?? mph runs and have not had one single issue. Did a datalog this morning and sent it to gearhead, so now I am just waiting for the e30 tune from them.

Funny thing, I kept all my datalogs, on this car I have logs from LMS, Unleashed and AJP. The fastest 0-60 speed using the datalogs timestamps I have ever gotten out of this car was 4.65 seconds. The base gearhead tune was just over 4.2 seconds, so I am pretty excited to see how the e30 tune does.

The bad news is I just saw on facebook that test and tune this sunday at our local track has already been canceled due to heavy expected rains Saturday night and Sunday morning. I was really hoping to see how it would do, I don't often have free time at the same time that they have test and tunes.

Also, thanks again for your assistance getting the HPFP installed. For anyone going that route, post a heads up on the forum before you do. It comes with ZERO instructions, and if it weren't for mr steelbluesho I never would have figured out there was a piece on the original pump that you have to pry off and put it on the new pump. You would think a $1700 part would come with some type of heads up like that, but I guess a single piece of paper put into each box would destroy the profit margin. I didn't need that hour of my day that I spent trying to figure out why there was a hole in my motor around the new pump anyways.

It was definitely a motivating factor. I appreciate your diligence and documentation.

Now that I have felt it, I understand completely about the shifting. It's hard to put into words just how extraordinary the difference is. No matter what you say, people who have not experienced it just are not going to get it.

Anyone in the central ohio area that would like to experience it, I would be happy to let them take my car for a ride. It won't take more than a mile or two before you are convinced to get a gearhead tune. I am sure of that.

Actually the Motorcraft is quite good, just change it more often since its the semi-synthetic stuff that they will use for your "free" oil changes.

Firestorm HPFP, catted DP's, 3 Bar and E30 tune. Tires were at 30 and I launched at a little over 2200 rpms. I was going to switch to the LMS E30 tune to compare, but it was literally 5 hours in between runs so maybe next time.

When did summit open? I’ve been there a couple of times and it took too much time between runs on test and tune day. By chance have you been to dragway 42?
Thanks, Shoblock

I think last weekend was the first weekend but I could be wrong. I got a run in about 15 minutes after driving in, but waited almost six hours to get a second run in. There were two different incidents on the track that took 45 mins to an hour to clean up each time, but even without those it would have been 4 hours between runs.

Spoke with Matt this morning and ordered an SCT + Tunes.

Intend to make an equal comparison between GH and Livernois in the upcoming months.

Drive to track, load stock tune...make a run
Return to pit area, load GH tune...make a run
Return to pit area, load Livernois tune...make run

With allotted 'cool down time's I feel this is the best way to get a fair comparison of both tunes. No 'tranny learn' phase for either, same climate, same track, same track preparations, etc...

Side note: main reason for opting to switch to GH was because of shifting issues from Livernois and I'd like to get into data logging as I know future modifications (IC upgrade, meth) are on their way in the near future.

I'll keep this board posted in my findings.
