Has anyone installed Gen 4 seats in a Gen 1/2? I've heard that it is a direct swap but the bracket doesn't look the same.

What do you mean by Gen4? Are you referring to a 2000-2007 Taurus which is indeed the Gen4 of the Taurus name plate or are you referring to a 2010+ SHO which has become known as the Gen4 SHO even though it's technically a Gen5 Taurus?

Gen4 Taurus seats will bolt into older SHOs because I've seen it done. I've seen Gen2 SHO seats bolted into Gen4 Taurus before too. What has to be done I really cannot tell you. There might be some slight modifiying needed or they might just bolt right in. All I know is it's been done.

2010+ SHO seats will almost definitely not bolt in without major modifications. Anything is possible though.

Thanks Chad, this is exactly what I needed to know. I was referring to the gen 4 SHO but now I know that it won't work with previous gen SHO's.

I agree that gen 1 seats look the best but it’s becoming harder to find any in decent condition for a reasonable cost. Just wanted to explore my options

Can you swap brackets? Not sure what the dimension differences are but they look similar enough to fit if you can swap brackets or fab a way to mount them.

I’m sure it can be done but not sure how much modifying it would need. I would give it shot if I got some gen 4 SHO seats on the cheap.

You could always try and reupholster them yourself. Used to make Katzkin covers for the SHO. Haven't seen any lately but the company has the pattern. Other companies out there as well.
