$100-$150

LMS charges the new owner $300 for tunes and reprogramming plus shipping back and forth.

Maybe less now since you can get the touchscreen tuners for $600.

Can’t the person who buys it use it as is or is it tied to the car

Tied to the car. They won’t be able to use it.

They tie it to the Strategy and SWPN of the ECU....

If you sell it to someone who has the same as yours, then they can use it.

Chances are slim that both will match.

I bought my car from someone with the LMS tuner already with the car. LMS wants to charge me the $300 to transfer it to me despite it being used on the same vehicle. Kind of crappy from a customer relations standpoint.

I can see your point. However, after it's in your name, you can use it on any Ford they tune going forward. So if you sell your SHO and get a different an F150, Fiesta, etc, you can get a tune for free for that vehicle. The way I look at it is, you are paying $300 to get access to any Ford tune they offer as long as you have the MyCal tuner.

Edit: To clarify, only one vehicle can be tuned at a time.
