Just got a 2018 burgundy velvet which is a pretty dark car in most lighting .

I'm leaning towards not tinting at all with this color. The white and Ruby red look good with dark windows as a contrast but I think it might look better untainted .

Also like to see at night as I get older lol .

What do you guys think?

Many of my friends have suggested I tint my blue 2018. They say it "makes" the car. I think if anything, the wheels "made" the car.

I know a lot of folks like window tint, but I'm not a fan. I had a work van years ago with darkly tinted glass so we could operation video gear/monitors inside and I hated driving it at night. Visibility was terrible. The only saving grace of that van was that the front 3 windows weren't tinted.

When my clearbra was being done, I spent some time at the tint shop that handled the install. I heard several people ask "which tint is legal"? To the shop's credit, they respond that none of it was legal, but odds of being stopped or written due to the tint are very slim. They also often added that your odds of being stopped went up the darker you went with the tint. I didn't see a single person decide to not tint.

I say "TINT" There is a lot of glass on the Taurus and tinting cools it off inside, I agree with everyone that not all colors look good with really dark tint BUT I think all colors look good with a little tint. It may be naive of me, but supposedly with the new top line (expensive) tints, the lighter tint is just as effective as the darker ones. I have Tuxedo Black, so I did not want the really dark tint, I got the Virginia legal tint all the way around. It takes the edge off all that glass, cool it down inside and you can only tell its tinted if you pay attention. I have had no issues with night time visibility and I have horrible night vision. But in the end its all personal preference. Have a good day.

Here in New York, it's now part of the safety inspection:

https://dmv.ny.gov/registration/tinted-windows

I've never had tinted windows, never WANTED tinted windows, but my 2001 F250 came with tinted rear and rear-door windows (Supercab, so they're small). If I had to do it over again, I'd order the damn thing without it.

I'm one of those control freaks that are so bad that even driving my motorcycle with gloves on removed too much "sensory perception". Anything that limits what I consider "reality" makes me nervous. In the case of my F250, I put a cap/topper on the back which also came with tinted windows. The visibility was effectively zero out the back. I did, however, drive a box truck for 5 years back in my early-to-mid twenties, so I dealt with it.

I look at it the other way. I limo tint everything I own, for the security factor. I dont want people to be able to see in my car for any reason while parked or in motion. It keeps honest people honest, and it allows to me make stupid faces at people without them knowing....lol. Also here in AZ when it is 118, the tint keeps my car cool enough that I don't have to lower my AC under 70 at anytime. I will post a before an after of my tint.

You can also see how much of a difference "leveling" the car did as well between the first and second pictures.

Aesthetically it often looks better, and I used to tint all my cars, but like you I am getting older and I appreciate making it easier on the vision thing. I would support operator safety in this case. If you are getting older and you think seeing is affected by tint, then it is.

This is the reason my car isn't tinted. I have had tinted windows practically since I started driving. I first got cars tinted for the look but it also keeps the car noticeable cooler in the warmer months and the glare from headlights bothers me and the tint helps.

They have very light tint 80-85% that I am considering since it should still be legal in NY and blocks the UV light that heats the car up the most. Would like to see it on person first but that is proving difficult.
