Wow, time capsule. I wonder if those are three complete engines or just the block. Looking at the carfax on the dealer site, it looks like the car was in Illinois until 2014

I saw this car for sale like one year ago, it was in PA with something like 2800 miles...

I have a 99 in my area that had like 4 or 5 differents owners in the last 4 years. He pops on classified each year.

Strange how these low mileage cars can change as often of owners.

I saw this car on CL somethin within the last few weeks. If I am not mistaken the original owner was asking about 15k. Im presuming this dealer picked it up for resale.

A little aggressive on the price . . . . to anyone wanting to run out and buy this, when cars sit things like seals get dry and cracked (engine seals, transmission seals, power steering seals etc.)

A little aggressive... I’d say a lot. 40k?? Really? I think they must be smokin some serious sh*t. Nobody would pay that for a 2900 mile first gen. Doubt they’ll get 1/4 of what they’re asking.

On ebay, there is a 1999 black Gen 3 with 21K on it and at less than half this price

When someone buys a car like this, its going to be parked in a collection. No way a collector will pay that much for it.

I think i found the story of it.

A guy on SHO marketplace (Facebook group) from St Paul, Minnesota put this info one year ago :

Thanks for the add. I have a friend that has a brand new 1996 Taurus SHO for sale. No joke!!! It's been on a ford dealership show floor under a cover. It has less than 3000 miles on it. It still smells new!! It's a v-8 and an unbelievable time capsule. He's looking to sell it. What do you think it's worth. I can get picks and all info on it from him tomorrow.
