Oil filter location on a 92 SHO?

Hey guys I am about to change the oil in my 92 SHO, but where is the filter located? Is it in horizontal or vertical? Front or back?

It's below the front exhaust manifold.

And above the starter, I recommend using a cut out two liter pop bottle to protect the starter from being soaked in oil. There is probably a picture of it on the forum if you do a search. You want to keep the bottom portion of the bottle and then cut away half of it to cover body of the starter. The bottom portion covers the solenoid end. This will help in extending the life of your starter.

Now that I reread what the link says, I actually use the bottom portion and cover the starter so no oil drips on the solenoid or body of the starter. Maybe I'll try the top portion next time

crawl under the front of the car, look up at the bottom of the engine. I will be the oil filter looking thing

How many quarts does the the car take? And oil type? I got a gallon bottle of Pennzoil 10w 30 synthetic high mileage I was going to put into it.

I take it seeing as the second gen stuff is blank it's the same as the Gen 1? And damn! 5 quarts? My 89 GTA Trans Am with a 5.7 350 took that many! That's a thirsty Yamaha engine. What the heck is blinker fluid?

Silliness.

The blanks were due to a lack of available info, so don't transpose Gen 1 info to Gen 2.

The engine takes 5qts but 1qt of that is due to the filter.

190 HP @ 4000 RPM / 295 FT/LB @ 2800 RPM (MXO Transmission)
225 HP @ 4400 RPM / 295 FT/LB @3200 RPM (MM5 Transmission with N10 Dual-Converter Exhaust)

The more compact the package, the more exotic the materials/design and/or the more the need for lubrication to prevent wear. Today's Ford 3.5L Duratec/Cyclone engines take 6 Quarts of oil (including the filter).
