Hey guys, what are your thoughts on deleting the rear mufflers vs removing the 3rd cat/resonator and replacing with an x-pipe? I want a little more sound (but not too much) and performance. I would think the 3rd cat would probably place more of a restriction on the exhaust than the rear mufflers.
Anyone know what performance gains I should expect after adjusting the tune and maybe sending Torrie some logs?
Currently I'm running Unleashed 3bar tune, w/K&N panel filter, VTA BOV.

I just did the muffler delete on my 13 with unleashed 3bar tune (91 oct) and am happy with the sound.
This was done at the same time that i replaced my plugs, tstat, and got an updated tune from torrie after sending him some data logs.
Was running 13.3xx 1/4 mile before and am now running 13.1xx.
I cant say how much of a factor the muffler delete helped performance, but as far as sound goes, im satisfied

So you removed the 2 big mufflers at the very rear where the exhaust tips are? So what did you do, run a long straight pipe to the rear bumper with new exhaust tips? Thanks.

MFRMSHO car runs very good, and I have heard it. Sounds nice and Torrie can set you up nice!

After all of this I'm considering 2 AR25's replacing the rear mufflers and dynomax welded x muffler to replace the 3rd cat and center resonator. Now I just have to locate a shop that does custom mandrel bending.

Those AR25's sound pretty good from what I've heard so far. Although it's difficult to get the exact sound through computer speakers / headphones.

The funny thing from what I read on the manufacturer's website, those AR25's are actually resonators and not mufflers! I heard the clip too and sound good but I'm confused as **** - replacing 2 mufflers with 2 AR25 resonators...?? Wonder how this affects performance?

Yeah, I read that too! The setup I'm planning shouldn't affect anything adversely. I'm just reversing positions. Some cars do actually come with the resonators after the mufflers from the factory. Resonators reduce drone and mufflers reduce decibels (sound). I'm replacing the center dual inlet/outlet resonator (and 3rd cat) with a muffler and replacing the two mufflers with two single inlet/outlet resonators.

I also considered the ar25's but decided on a smaller resonator made by Vibrant. They replaced my rear mufflers and added Unleashed catless downpipes at the same time. Overall I'm very satisfied with the sound and performance!

There is a video clip of my car on there somewhere, (think its in the Roush axel back thread) and I have the ar25s on mine.

I will edit this comment with a link...

I used these videos in determining to buy AR25 resonators for my car. The videos do a good job of capturing the overall sound but don't capture the drone from about 2200-2800 rpms. I would say adding a x pipe would help a little.
