Greetings,

Sorry I have been off the gird for a while but getting set up in DFW Metroplex

I am doing some leg work for now and with any luck I might be introducing a new forum member to the SHO section either today or end of week.

Subject has found a 2015 SHO Platinum White Performance Package. He is aware about the obvious disclaimers from FMC about the summer tires and to be honest is kind of shocked that they would even consider ordering a P/P for the Pacific Northwest Region with summer only tires. Anyway their loss, his possible gain.

Here is the question, does anyone have any recommendations for All Season tires for a SHO Performance Package for the Pacific Northwest Region. Metro/urban area, combination of city/rural year round driving. Looking for good ride, minimum noise, good wet, snow, ice, traction, handling etc....The usual check list items but without sacrificing the elements of the P/P. I would personally like to recommend the Pirelli Cintaurato P7 all season based on previous experience with my 2013 SEL in the Northeast. Good ride, handling, wet, snow, ice etc... My reluctance with the recommendation is I have not heard of any reviews for Performance Package owners.

He knows obviously they will be 20's but can anyone confirm that although summer rated the P/P 20's are still the 245/45/R20 as in the same 245/45 dimensions as the NON P/P 20's?

He is looking for good handling, wet, ice, snow, rain, dry, with not excessive road noise and a good solid all around all season handling tire. I suspect he will dust off the OEM tires for Summer but want a decent set for the winter. Any recommendations to get started with?

We have some nasty winters here in Nebraska (although this week it's in the 70's with no end in sight for the nice weather!) however, last year we had a couple snow storms and some ice storms - I installed General GMax tires (same size as the summer tires) and they worked flawlessly! These tires are made by Continental so they're high quality with excellent pricing! Just go to TireRack.com to get kick-butt pricing with FREE shipping!!!

I was tempted by the P7's as well but wound up going with something less "Touring" instead. I spooned on a set of Continental DWS06's and they've been great so far. The outgoing DWS's were a solid tire and the 06's are just a better version of those with some updates and good wear numbers. Head over to tirerack and pick a few tires for comparison and read the reivews. That's what I usually do and haven't pick a bad tire yet.

As to your question about PP vs. Non-PP size...they are the same size tires regardless when you have the optional 20" wheels.

Take a look at the BF Goodrich G-Force COMP-2 A/S. I just got mine on (Dallas) and have really enjoyed them. Discount Tire told me that they share the same compounds with it's brother, Michelin Pilot Sport 3 A/S. Different tread patterns, though.

SHO's with the 20" tires are:
Michelin Primacy MXM4 (Grand Touring All-Season)
Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar (Max Performance Summer)

If you're going to be seeing a combination of snow/slush/wet for a considerable amount of time, thought of getting a set of winter tires on some 19" cheap/close-out rims?

Living in Northern NJ the summer tires had to go -- I went with Continental Extreme Contact DWS 245/45/ZR20 -- Great tire! Great in snow and handles well in the dry/wet. I drive it like it stole it so I keep them between 35psi-40psi. I will definitely be going with them again when i need new ones in a couple months.

Have you experienced any tram lining? Number one complaint I hear about DWS. Not sure about the replacement 06's.

No more then i did with the summer tires. Wider tires are always going to be more sensitive to the crowns in the roadways. I have 275s front and 295s rear on my cobra, same deal

Russ, FWIW, I live in the PNW (above Portland) and have had my non-PP for about 10 days now.
The stock tires on my car are Michelin Primacy.
All I can vouch for thus far is the wet surface traction (even w/ trac control off) and it's excellent.
Being Michelins they're gonna cost but you get what you pay for.
Best of luck hooking up the new potential owner/car.

That's awesome on both counts.
I hope it turns out well on the new rubber.
Perhaps the owner could swing by here and let us know how he likes the Continentals.
The SHOs are a pretty sophisticated animal and there appears to be a lot of good info here!
Thanks for the reply, Russ!

The owner, Greg9933, "swinging by".

The DWS06 are fantastic. They track straight, good corner and brake adhesion. Rok, you know very well in our region resistance to hydroplaning is critical. I can report the 06 shows no propensity to hydroplane.

Tread life is tbd, but performance wise, awesome tire.

2015 SHO, platinum white, p/p, 401, blis, articulating seats.

Awesome car.

Hi Greg,
I was looking around here the other day and came across some other reviews on the Conti DWS06 tires. Those were good reviews also.
I'm about 18 miles north of Portland and for the last couple days there's been ice on the hills/roads around here, probably where you're at also.
Haven't had the car out in the icy roads yet but it's inevitable.
Took something of a road trip last weekend to The Dalles, OR and back. Netted 21 or so MPG but really just wanted to get some miles on it.
Seems like the more miles I get on it, the better it runs. Around 1200 on it now.
Getting used to all this car can do on the road with the adaptive CC, lane-keeping reminders and all the rest is going to take some time. Kind of "Big Brother"ish but guess I can't bitch about the fact that my Insurance went down because of these things.
Some days I wish I had the bigger brakes and TC Cooler, a la PP.
Have fun.

Took the plunge and had 4 new DWS 245/45ZR20 mounted on my wheels today. Going to have my Blizaks on 17" Sport wheels taken off and the new DWS installed and aligned tomorrow. My tire guy said try them for 30 days and if I'm not pleased he'll put something else on. What I liked was Continental offers a 3 year flat tire free tow or fix, $70.00 instant discount on 4 and publish a 60 day trial and they are rated at 50K miles. I was disappointed with the Goodyear F1 OE and figured since my 2011 with PP is my DD, the DWS06 should give the performance I need. The only thing that concerns me is after reading some reviews, some say it takes them a while to round up and smooth out when they have set for a while. I will give them at least 30 days to prove them wrong. I think since the SHO weighs in at 4300lbs +, it might not be an issue. Please respond if you have experienced the DWS06.

I've been running the DWS 06 for almost two months now. My SHO has sat up to four or five days a few times and I have not had any issues at this point. Overall very happy with the tires, I spent a lot of time researching and they seemed to be the best all season for the SHO.

As reported, I put the DWS06 on my 15 SHO PP before it was delivered, November 2015.

5400 miles later they have just had their first rotation and I am happy to report all is well.

No unusual wear patterns showing. Mine is driven daily, I have never noticed the flat spotting.

That trial period is great. I would have kept mine regardless, nothing bad to report.

I have the DWS06's myself and I believe I'm having this flat spotting happening as unlikely as I am to believe it. My car will sit anywhere from 1 day to almost a week at a time. No matter how long it sits, I get what feels like an out of balance wheel but after driving for a little bit (maybe 10-15 min.) it almost completely goes away. But it always comes back typically. So my gut simply says I have one or two bad tires is more plausible. I just need to take it some place to have the tires road force checked.

I've used continental extreme track dws on two cars now including the sho which has the PP with summer tires. I used them all winter on the sho and have to say I'm very impressed, I would highly recommend them. I've also used blizzaks on my subaru and the DWS are very comparable in the snow and ice.

View attachment 2075 DWS06 installed. I'll start my trial period this afternoon.
Reporting back after 1900 miles on the DWS06. I liked everything about them except the side wall give while cornering at high speed. So I went back to my dealer who told me when he sold me the Continental DWS06, that if I didn't like them in the first 30 days he would give me something else. I went in yesterday and he swapped them for a set of the Michelin Pilot Super Sports 245/45 ZR 20's. From the get go I could feel the difference. I tried them on a 55MPH curve at 110MPH this morning and they felt like I was riding on a rail. No issues what so ever. Michelin PSS on the ground Rear View of Michelin PSS
