I'm contemplating some H & R springs for my sho but live in central IL, where we typically experience quite a bit of snow during the winter. I was wondering if anyone has these installed in an area where they have to contend with snow. One of my main reasons for going with the SHO was because of the AWD. I love the look of it being lowered, but not if it will create a headache for snow clearance. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Also, as a side note, there is a lot of noise going on under my SHO if driving in snow, slush, and some rain puddles. It sounds terrible under the driver and passenger doors or front fender wells, like there is plastic that wants to rip off under there. I could just be overly concerned about nothing, but I've never had another car that sounds like it is being damaged by driving through snow. Anything to worry about, or does any even know what I'm talking about? Lol

Thanks!

I had the H&R's on my SHO year round, and am North of you, in/around the Joliet, IL. area.....

Never was a problem for me.

I say "had" because about a year ago, I upgraded even further to the Megan Racing Coil Overs.

Thanks for the response! I'm about an hour and a half south of you near Champaign. I know you switched to coil overs because of your build, but other than that do you recommend the H &R springs? Any cons?

I live in northern MI and am having the same, or similar, noises from my car. Even when rolling straight over snow, but particularly while turning, it sounds like there's stuff rattling around in the front end/under front seats. It still drives fine and I looked underneath and found nothing loose. Just doesn't like snow I guess.

Possible the EBD system's coming into play on slipperier roads, sounds (crunching) do echo more in snow-covered areas. May be getting kicked up and caught in the driveshaft and crunched out. One way to test this theory is to put splash guards on ;)

I definitely get a lot of sound from snow, slush, salt being kicked up on the rockers. Seems like they really echo whenever they're hit. Might see about getting some kind of spray foam or sound insulation sprayed inside of them.

Might as well get 3m undercoating out on. That should help quite a bit.

Wow! I didn't know all that noise was possible! I had my car rust proofed and undercoated before I even drove off the lot. I know there's Pros & Cons to this but since they guarantee the car for life, why not?! My car doesn't have any noise underneath in snow, ice, slush, rain, etc. Guess it works. Lastly, I have the H&R springs - no issues what-so-ever in winter weather!
