I fell into buying a 12 SHO PP, M/C seats, voice nav, remote start and 402A with 83K on it. Could not pass it up since the dealer wanted to move it, paid way under book value. Car was well taken care of with all of the service records left in the glove box. When I picked it up I noticed a brochure on the passengers floor for Eibach. Sure enough in the service records it shows they were installed. Was looking like an Audi A8/S8/S6 or large SUV.

So far couldn't be happier except no heated steering wheel.

Thanks. I hope I got a good one, I guess time will tell. I have to give credit to the dealer, I know they put a new battery in the car but when I test drove the car it no cold air. They said they would look at it. I told them I would take it if the air was fixed and the price did not go up by much and would understand if the sent it to auction with its low price. Come to find out the compressor was bad and the sales person said it was about $800 to fix which they fixed and they or Ford ate the cost. The previous owner put 2 new F1's on and new brakes at 75K in April.

Stopped by one of my local Ford dealers yesterday. Trying to find some rims for winter and asked about changing the fluid for the PTU. He said he never heard of doing it and would not do it. I also asked what was next service he said plugs and I asked if they correctly gaped them, he stated no just open the box from Ford and install. I don't think he realized he just lost a potential customer. Two other Ford dealers within 10 miles.

For pics nothing special to show and last fall I took pics(first time since the early 80's of one of my cars) of my 04 Phaeton that I took delivery in ABQ NM and shot some pics of it in Yellowstone and might have jinxed the car. The car had over 20k in problems undisclosed by the dealer and in NM if they have over $1,500 in undisclosed body work the dealer can buy the vehicle back or pay triple the amount, he bought it back. Even with the problems that car it was fantastic and wish I could find another one.

Congrats on the find! Sounds like the modern day barn find lol. :hi5:

As for them never having heard of the PTU...

Have you put any thought into modding her? I mean come on...isn't the whole reason that cars are built? 5 out of 5 forum members agree with us LOL :boink:.

After looking for a car for almost a year and just missing some great buys. I think I could break even on a trading in the car including the taxes I paid.

The dealer never heard of changing the PTU fluid.

Yes but winter tires first. Last couple of years ran Sumitomo HTR Z II year around on my Audi since they stopped making snows in 255 45 17. You are on my list to call.

I think my first mod was the bolt on the throttle body(I think it was called that) one my 84 GTi to open up the throttle earlier.

I hope I can get over the Mississippi before the leaves are all gone and before the snow falls for some fun roads to drive on.

I will try to find the Phaeton photos(not great) and shoot the SHO after this weekend. Shooting IM Louisville on Sunday. It was special. Started out in Jackson Hole at 8 a.m. drove through the Tetons to Mammoth Falls in Yellowstone then out the Northeast entrance over the Big Horn to Sioux Falls S.D. arriving about 2 a.m. From Cody to Sioux Falls avg. about 72 miles an hour, 22 miles to the gallon. Still felt we could have pushed on but it was a long day.

The SHO will gain substantial benefits from:
Spark Plug change & gap
Trans Fluid R&R
PTU Fluid R&R
RDU Fluid R&R
Intercooler/CAC Emptying if needed
Coolant check (change if need be)

Thanks, need to find a good local mechanic. Had an SSD failure and my Phaeton photos might have been on it. R&R is a new one for me. Is the remove and replace by chance?

Is there a how to anywhere for checking the inter cooler? I've searched a few times with no success...

Most people never know you are driving a car that had a 70K sticker. Would love to find a 06 W12 four seater with low miles and special paint. That's what I like about the SHO very few badges or scoops, a real sleeper. Just need to drop some bucks at Livernois. Thanks for the link
