Purchased this MC but it seems different from the Ford cylinder in that it has a threaded port on the bottom. I thought it was a dead port but when I put brake fluid in the cylinder it started leaking. The side port above for the brake line does not seem to have as much brake fluid as the front port. The MC was listed as ABS/four wheel disk. Is this the wrong one?

Are you talking about where the speed control harness hooks in underneath? That would leak . I don't have one off to look at. Just what's on the car now

You didn't indicate your year and ATX or MTX, but FWIW Amazon shows that Raybestos part does not fit my 1992 MTX. The one I installed is a Dorman M390024; brand new, it's only $36 at Amazon. Transfer the booster seal from the old MC to the new one before you install it.

MTX 1993. Thanks. Ordered the Dorman on close out at Rockauto. Problem was the one bought previously was listed at Rockauto for four wheel disc with abs

MTX cars have a different master cylinder due to the ATX cars having that extra port for a brake switch to cut the cruise off, as you found out.

Interestingly, the 1993 Ford Taurus shop manual doesn't seem to indicate the presence of the extra downward facing port on the ATX (like mine that's leaking badly). Could be wrong, but I couldn't see it.

I know this is old as dirt, but I also screwed up and bought the wrong master cylinder. Can't return it. Have the idea of just plugging the port. Looks like an inverted flare plug would get it done. Any reason why this won't work?
