STOCK ENGINE. If you truly do not want to believe it, you can ask Cobb Tuning and P&L Performance. He now has sponsorships from them and is trying for 9's on the STOCK ENGINE. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=42578916&postcount=533

He ran an 11.89 on the stock turbo.

I know the car quite well as I've done a bit of work on it, but that engine has not been opened up and has just over 60k miles on it with an extraordinary amount of drag racing on it:

Well... okay then! Bottom line though, the car's not bone stock. Stock block and driveline, okay cool... but upgraded turbo (correct?), tuned, and now I'm curious what else to get it to 600hp. Whatever it is, that's seriously impressive work - considering it started out at what, 280-300hp or so? Really, really impressive!!! I watched the video you posted... looks like it still pulls real hard even after second... the WRX I raced this past weekend seemed pretty strong up through 2nd, then started to peter out starting at 3rd, and then it was really meh. (Real nice girl though.)

Imagine over doubling the HP on our SHO's. I sure as **** wouldn't say no to 700+, lol. ...though I'm not convinced our trannys would take that kind of power under WOT. Never know though until someone hits those numbers... and then hammers it a good bit. :munch:

617AWHP is pretty strong! We will be at 700+ soon, but try to wrap you head around a 4600lb car that will eat almost any street rod alive!:hail:

FYI, the trans was fine in our world record pulls....

It was never touted as "bone stock".

Really all he's got done is exhaust, GT3582, 44mm EWG, ID2000's, 450 lph pump, E85, M&H drag radials, and a 4-puck clutch (now going to twin disk). These cars start with about 230 awhp and I would imagine he's nearing 600 awhp.

I did that on my SHO. Had to stop adding power because of traction, broken axles, and the fear that 3rd was about to strip every time I drove it. :)

Seriously, like I said... very impressive. Would love to take it out for a spin ;)

Yikes... see... that's why I'm wondering how much we can get away with on our Gen4's. How much power were you able to wind up adding while keeping it safe and trouble free?

I probably had around 550whp at 14 PSI. I did have the transmission shimmed and shot peened in addition to running Shock Proof. It seemed to have helped as I didn't break it. I did break a couple axles when I was on gas (~440whp)... Turns out that Raxles Axles didn't use Ford ends which are actually very strong.

I never worried about the engine though. Even after I sucked up a bunch of water, then tried to go out and break it the next day, it ran nicely.

The white camera car (WRX) in this video is a high 11 second car:

And Jason did all this with a FWD on a 20+ year old OEM design! The key for the Gen IV is finding out how much power can be transferred to the rear axles over OEM calibration (if at all needed). May not be an issue if everything is assembled correctly :nut:

What are the trap speeds for 1/2 mile and mile?? I've not even heard of anyone running that. (I assume 1/4's still around 117mph, right?)

Don't know of anyone here or on FB who has ran an ECOboost SHO in a standing half-mile or standing mile. But there are more events popping up all the time, should be easy to find one near a modded SHO owner.

Off the top of my head, current fastest traps for Yamaha SHO's are as follows:
1/4 - 122mph
1/2 - 139mph
1/1 - 170something

I'll be doing the Sandhills Open Road Race next August, which has a 1/2 and 1/1 standing mile event before the ORR, so I'll see if I can improve on that 139mph 1/2 trap. (If I get picked in the lottery, they have way more enter the event than they have spots for, sells out on day one of registration )

Maybe LMS will take a car to the Chicago Half-Mile next year?

Guess time will tell... I'm sure the guys at Livernois plan on pushing this generation to the breaking point. With any luck the engine/drivetrain won't change in 2016... hate to have to have them start over from scratch!

Well, I wish you the best of luck! You'll have to let us know how that goes... if you remember... and if I remember to check. (That's a LONG way out!)

I never worried about the engine though. Even after I sucked up a bunch of water, then tried to go out and break it the next day, it ran nicely.

Well, that's encouraging... and btw... you guys were going pretty fast already, so that kind of pull is very impressive! :omgsho: (they need a "cheers" emoticon lol)

I'm fk'n game. :thumb:

Point me to something within reasonable driving distance from the Chi-Town area and I'll see what I can manage as far as time off from work, and getting me and the SHO there...... :omgsho:

I'll only claim to be the "Highest HP Ecoboost Taurus" for now.... as I hear grumblings are in the works for even more impressive #'s from LMS. :hail:

But I'll be more than happy to do what I can to help elevate the platform to the level of notoriety it so richly deserves.

On a side note..... I am forever impressed with the preceding Gen's who cameth before mine, that helped paved the way to the current iteration's existence. :thankyou:

I can't even begin to count how many previous Gen SHO's impressed the **** out of me when I attended the MinneSHOta Convention back in 2012.

You "older owners" (term used very loosely) rock! :urock:

Not only for keeping your "older" SHO's in such great shape, but also for having pushed them to the extremes (at that time period) to set the bar for all of us subsequent model years to only hope to surpass.

bpd1151 out..... :salute:

Two day event at private runway south of Chicago. (Bult Field, Monee) (usually some time in June)
Some impressive machinery shows up. Side by side racing, much more exciting than the standalone stuff I have done.

A number of S/C CTS-Vs usually make these events. Other than them, not many 4-door sedans.

Uh huh.... that's why it's got your name written all over it. And deservedly so.

Always thankful for all of your staff's time, talents, and treasure.

You guys are the best for the Ecoboost platform hands down.
