Have had my 15pp over a month now and just discovered what a dramatic difference Sport position makes over Drive. The gas pedal becomes so touchy that I have to position my foot differently to keep from jerking the car. The owners manual doesn’t give a lot of detail on using Sport. When do you guys use Sport? All the time? Running the quarter mile? Rarely? I did notice at 60 mph moving the selector from sport to Drive drops the rpm like it’s shifting to a higher gear. So I might guess sport gets lower gas mileage for continued use.
Those of you with tunes, does Sport still make a difference?

With my 13 PP I put it in sport mode almost exclusively. Must better throttle response or at least it feels like it does. I dont have a tune yet but will remedy that next spring

Sport mode holds the rpm's higher before it upshifts keeping you in the power band longer. You do not get as good of fuel mileage with it in sport mode. I usually only use it when at the track.

I use it mostly on the highway to pass slower traffic and when driving back roads to maintain specific gears.

On my '15 as soon as I tap either paddle it goes into "paddle shift" mode.

I haven't used Sport mode much and honestly, I have a lot of learning to do about them as I just picked this one up about a month ago.

Think you will find that just selecting sport (dont touch paddles) locks out 6th. Hence at freeway speeds rev rise and fall as you move selector between S and D

For sure it seems to make the car far more throttle responsive and as said above hold gears longer.

The paddles you can use in either D or S, in D the car change back from manual mode to D after a brief time, in S its stays in manual mode until you change it back

Even in S and manual paddle mode the car wont let you over rev and will change gear automatically as to near the limiter or max rpm. Also in S with manual mode you can select 6th manually.

For me I drive in D 95% of time, just using S for overtakes and rapid standing starts (which I really don't have need to do very often as most driving is on freeways)

I only us the paddle shifters if someone is trying to play with me. Most on the time, just leave the car in D. Don't us the paddle shifters at the dragstrip, leave in D and left the car do everything.

yep, to be honest I wouldn't be that bothered if the paddle shifters weren't there for the type of driving I do.

Also whilst I like that when you use one of the paddles it changes the left hand display and puts the rev counter up, it irritates me it doesn't reset to previous display when you go back to normal D mode, I have to do it myself (lazy I know, but little things)

There's actually 3 Sport settings in case you were wondering. If you tap the ESC button just once all it does is turn off Traction Control. If you hit the button twice the dash with say "Sport Mode," and all this does is limit the amount Traction Control kicks in and limits the amount of Electronic Stability. But if you press and hold the ESC button for 5 seconds it shuts off everything - true Sport Mode!! :)

The 2015 PP SHO had the same problem in sport mode when the car was cold. After following a TSB for F150 EcoBoost Truck and re-gap the plugs to 028 the problem when a way. Oh by the way That's what LMS has you do when install the 3-bar senor and 160 thermostat. Interesting!!! Don't ask a ford dealer about the problem you'll get a stupid answer.

I turned 13.78 at the track just leaving it in drive. Sport mode is better for navigating heavy traffic, but uses more gas.

Our custom tuning will equally affect the drive modes across the board. From sport to snow, they all get the same amount of adjustment. I drive my car in sport post tuning exclusively, because the throttle mapping that we do for sport mode is far better! The throttle response, quickness and efficiency all go through the roof! I get about 4MPG more post tuning in sport mode.

So when you say "sport mode," are you saying that you push the ECS button twice so that it's says, "Sport Mode," on the dash? Or are you putting the shifter into "S" instead of "D?" Thanks!

My 15 does not have an 'esc' button, which I'm guessing is on the shift **** of the older cars. My choices are 'S' or 'D' and use of the paddle shifters in either one.

So i think the original post was about the difference between D and S on the gearshift selector and how the car feels way more responsive in S, not about the different mode on the ESC

And no on the 13 and later cars, the ESC button is under the little lift up flap in front of the gear selector, where the button for the automatic rear blind is and the auto parallel park button is (if you have that option)

Almost right, Sport160, however, if you have adaptive cruise control on a 15, the buttons under the little lift up flap are: rear blind, auto park, and lane keeping system on/off. No esc button, it must've escaped......
