Working on this, 1966 Ford Cortina GT, 78hp/98lbs ft, just picked up my 'mule' SHO engine last weekend and hope to start on the mockup for fabbing the mounts etc.

I have done a ton of searching and (depending on the 'feel'/ratios) will either go with the Ranger 5 speed or Aerostar/T5 - I really need to drive a 5 speed Ranger to get an idea of how it actually shifts.

As you can see, lots of room (some have dumped V8s into these cars) and now I need to do some measurements to see where the gearshift will poke through.

Many thanks for this site, good to see so many who know how good the SHO is, I loved my '89!

Blood sweat and tears as well! :)

3 times the power and 2 and a bit times the torque should get the wheels spinning, especially in a 2000lb car.

I hope to start in the summer once "she" allows me some time away from the (decade long) renovations.

I looked at/owned a whole host of drivetrains for this, Mazda 2.0l, KA24DE, 2.3 Pinto set up for drag racing, S2000 and a 2.0L Duratec with ITBS but my memory of the SHO engine was too good, plus the cost of the engines is way below the asking on a lot of the others.

And it is the best looking engine cover known to man.
