LSA = YUM
Food for thought. Drivers being equal the GT500 can win some road course events.
The ZL1 will never win a drag race.
Really? Have you read the EcoBoost Flex thread?

I don't think I'd complain one bit if given the keys to either with the express conditions it be driven like I stole it.
nope, not one little bit.
well maybe except a little about the visability out of the back of the camaro. other than that, I do believe my big fat lily white ass would be thouroughly enjoying myself beating the **** out of either car.
however, if I had to lay down my own hard earned money on either, I'd pick the Cobra.

Good to see someone with good reason here. I'm not saying don't pick the GT500 over the ZL1, just don't be ignorant about it...
I don't think anyone has dismissed the ZL1 as being a truly great handling car. I think you have dismissed the GT500 as being one bad ***** when it comes to laying power to the ground. It traps on average 7-10 mph more, and a roll race is joke. The GT500 is a lion, the ZL1 a domesticated shorthair.

Hey, I've always said I'd rather have a Boss 302 over a Camaro SS.
The perfect ponycar right now is a Boss 302 with an LS3![]()
And repeated runner-up in the car rags...
Hey, I've always said I'd rather have a Boss 302 over a Camaro SS. And I assumed the GT500 would make the ZL1 moot. That is not the case.
Why? The roadrunner makes 18 more hp, and the coyote makes 6 less. The new 5.0 is no joke. Look for it as the motor in the next gen GT500, as it is already powering the 2013 Cobra Jets. Besides, tune/intake/dr automatic GT's are running 11.8-12.0 @ 115-118, no LS3 Camaro is close to those numbers with that little of mods.

Being discussed on SVTP currently. Stock 2013 GT500 vs. stock 2012 ZL1. Best of three. Appears that only 2 races were needed, and according to yellowbullet, best trap on the GT500 was 124, 113 for the ZL1. Awaiting vids as I'm sure they will surface. Judging by the traps the race couldn't have been close, unless the GT500 gave the camaro a couple of Mississippi's?:laugh_ti:
The standard GT already makes the SS it's *****. The Boss is for taking down M3's on a road course, with a model T rear end.
you're.Considering no one in here has driven both of these cars back to back to formulate a their own opinion, your all a bunch of shit heads.

You definitely don't care about handling. Because that's what the drag racers all say: "Look at the g reading!"
A steady state skidpad is the solid axle's best friend. It is such a small factor in overall handling. But, go ahead and think that...
Probably just helping wash the floors and then had some Krispy Kremes.Look at the Road and Track Laguna Seca results. The GT500 is faster on the straights, but every turn but 1 the ZL1 is significantly higher g readings and speeds. The ZL1 handles better. The car mags have subjectively decided to emphasize ride over performance and eschewed the very numbers I posted in the chart. Must've forgot these were muscle cars, not luxobarges. Plus, the mags are courting advertising dollars, so may be slightly biased at times. There is a photo of the head of zl1 development (Al Oppenheimer) coming out of one of the mags headquarters while they were doing their testing. He was carrying knee pads and wiping his lips off.Probably just helping wash the floors and then had some Krispy Kremes.
Out of 4 road course tests, as illustrated by the chart I posted, The GT500 won 2 and tied 1, with the zl1 only winning 1 out of 4. The zl1 lost all 12 acceleration tests. Braking, slalom and skidpad were all 50/50. But, no one is disputing that MRC and IRS provide for a comfortable street experience.
