They completely overhauled the chassis? I don't recall hearing ANYTHING about brakes...isn't that one of the pet peeves of the new SHO? And the performance package doesn't address it? Seems odd.

The new PP gets the full, much larger, police brakes. The SLO and base SHO also got upgraded brakes across the board because of so many complaints.

Everyone else is using Brembo calipers on their powerful line of cars, why haven't they caught on yet?

Ford needs to just give up building brakes. They all suck. On my SHO, on these SHOs, on every Town Car I've ever driven. They just can't do it.

Because Brembo's cost big $$ and the new Ford brakes will outperform them. Brembo's were on the table for the 2010 SHO, but it would've been about a $4-5K option and testing found that Ford's own design could outperform them. It's just a brand name. Don't get me wrong, I love them on my Mustang, but it's not always worth the extra cash for those fancy red letters on your calipers.

That is laughable.

The '13 Police and PP brakes were the original plan for the SHO or at least the PP, but seeing as the Police Interceptors weren't in production yet there was not enough volume to justify the cost. Plus the increased rotational mass would decrease fuel economy and the bean counters would have a hissy fit over CAFE #s. These are the brakes (seen in the video above) I was referring to outperforming the Brembos, just to be clear.

Take off your SHO goggles and read what you just wrote.

You're ignorant to think the calipers are being outperformed.

Nice try; we are talking about BREMBO'S. I know, I brought it up. All you really have after that is pads and rotors. Put the same pad compound and rotor on the fixed 4-*** Brembo's and it will perform better.

I bet the biggest change is probably an aggressive pad choice.

That is probably the most misguided post I've seen on the internet in quite a while.

First off, there is no way a Brembo brake system would add that type of coin to the cost of an SHO. Brembo calipers are not unique to each car. My '04 V had Brembo all around. They were the same front calipers as on an Evo, STi, etc. On the '09 V, it has the same caliper as the GTR, some AMGs, etc... A caliper from a DEALER typically runs $300-400. Then factor in mass purchasing.

Ford's own design outperforming them? Right. Like I said on a previous post, Ford braking systems suck. What is the cheaper Mustang GT and Boss running for brakes?

Just a name? Letters on a caliper? Just ask anyone who rode in my 4200lb V and got to feel the incredible g forces hauling the car to a halt on the backstraight at VIR from 150 down to about 50, time after time. Lap after lap without any fade whatsoever...

Brembos are excellent systems and race proven. They'll handle an SHO just fine...if ever equipped...
