Feb 25th/26th - Test and Tune at Danville

This will be a two day Autocross event at the Danville reigonal airport in Danville VA.

This event is being ran by my club (and friends) at TSCC (Triad Sports Car Club - Auto-X.com ). This is NOT A SPECIFIC Tidewater SHO ran event. However, I will make them aware that were showing up, it shouldn't change a thing regardless.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

There are multiple gates to get in to Danville and your GPS or whatever will NOT get you to the right one for the Auto-X. To avoid any issues, Set your GPS's or Mapquest to Floral Hill Memorial Garden, Danville VA. The Entrance that we are using is right across the street. It is a small access road that goes uphill pretty steep, you will not be able to see our cars from the highway. The Entrance WILL be marked with two orange cones. Here is a picture of the entrance.

Danville

Hotel Information

BEST WESTERN Windsor Inn & Suites

1292 South Boston Road, Danville, VA 24540

This is the Hotel I will be staying at on Saturday night.

  • Schedule:
  • Registration & Tech Opens: 8:00AM
[*](Must Pay Event and get Registration Card by 9:30AM)
[*]Late registration: Is only allowed at the discretion of officials.
[*]*There is $10.00 late fee and you lose fastest timed run.*

Cost will be 60 Dollars for both days. You will pay one site (50 dollars if you are a member of TSCC). Sorry if this sounds pricey, but for two days with as many runs as you can possibly get in is very rare. Keep in mind that at most Auto-X events your limited to 3-5 runs in ONE DAY.

If you choose to run one day, the cost will be 30 dollars (25 to members).

Tech Inspection

  • Ensure all Lug nuts are present and tight.
  • Make sure your wheel bearings are good, wheels will be shaked and checked for tightness.
  • Make sure your battery is properly held in place.

What to bring.

  • Sunblock. Your going to be working the course for at least 30 minutes. Wear sunblock.
  • Chairs.
  • Pop up tent thingy, if you want.
  • Tools.
  • Fluids.
  • Tire pressure gauge.
  • WATER!!!!
  • Painters Tape

Danville is big and there is no trees. So the only shade is going to be the kind you make. Just make sure to at the very least bring sunblock and PLENTY of water.

For you guys RACING your SHO's...make sure you drive them regularly before this event! Just because the car is reliable when you drive it every weekend on a short trip doesn't mean it will be when you drive it 3+ hours away and beat the **** out of it. Also, TIRES...understand that Auto-X is ******* your tires. The harder you push, the more you are going to wear them out.

Auto-X rules are simple. Run the course as fast as you can. NO BURNOUTS (Taking off fast and spinning the tires is one thing, dumping the clutch at 5,000 RPM is where you'll be asked to knock it out). This is a car control event, so don't go out there drifting around and knocking down the cones. This only ****** off the people working the course.

Be respectful, don't go around revving your engines are speeding through the parking/paddock area. EVERYONE MUST WORK (who is running their cars!)
. At these Test and Tune events its pretty laid back and you will not be working for more then 1 hour, at the most. Its just the way Auto-X works. If for some crazy reason you can't work, take it up with the worker steward.

Finally, if you get lost or need to contact me, my number is 910-257-6386.

Look for the big pop up tan tent when you get there, I'll try to save some spots for the SHO's to park together.

See you there.
