Taurus Sho great family car?

I would appreciate some opinions if this car would be a good fit for my family. I am looking for a performance type car with a family of 5. My current family vehicle is a Acadia SUV but its time for a change. I live in Canada so i thought the 2010 Taurus SHO would be a great fit for us. I tried the 2010 camaro thing and using my suv all year round but making big payments on a car for only 6 months a year didn't sit well after a while. The new SHO seems to have best of both worlds from what ive seen. Great performance that i can drive all the time and pick up the kids from soccer. I would really appreciate everyone's opinion on this if this would be a great move or not with a family of my size with this being my main vehicle.

The SHO, the Flex, and the Lincoln all have the powertrain you seem to be interested in.
Try them all, and see what you like.
The Camero doesn't sound to be in the same ballpark, what with 2 doors, and rear wheel drive, and standard wide tires.

It should be perfect for what you're looking for. Plenty of people space and plenty of cargo room in the giant trunk for all the kids soccer stuff. I don't think you'll be disappointed in buying a SHO.

Best family car I ever had and when the kids are at home and it's just you and the SHO (with a Livernois tune) you can SHO your tail lights to a Camaro SS. We do it all the time.

Highly recommended.

Sounds very familiar... Had a 2010 Camaro AND an Acadia! LOL! Got rid of BOTH! Traded the wife's Acadia in on the Flex EcoBoost... I NEVER drove her Acadia but I love driving the FLEX! 6 months and 20,000 miles later... this thing is an absolute BLAST!

Agree - the SHO is a great family car. Two kids (8, 11) and all their gear is no problems. And it gets them there QUICKLY

I'm not sure how old your kids are but I'm not sure if you can fit 3 kids with car seats/booster seats in the back. We've got our 2nd kid on the way, but if we go for a 3rd kid we will need to get something bigger. The Ford Flex has an Ecoboost option which is the same engine as the SHO. I'd like to switch to that if we had a 3rd kid but the wife doesn't like the look of it.

Our 3rd child will be joining us any day now (due date of March 3rd). My wife had me trade in her Lincoln MKZ for an MKT with EcoBoost. There won't be any problems fitting the booster seat, car seat, and infant seat in that! Even in my SHO, if I have a booster and a car seat in the rear seat there's really no room for a 3rd person of any size. Additionally, the LATCH points in the SHO are quite far inboard which wastes a bit of space, even making it difficult to put the center arm rest down if there are two car seats using the LATCH.

Screaming i remember you. You are a big part of the V6 community on camaro5 loved your posts. I want to thank everyone that took the time to respond. I had the chance to take a 2010 for a test drive the other day I really have only one small complaint is how they did the paddle shifters. What i really like about the Taurus SHO is the sleeper factor about it. Put a stage 2 tune on it your doing low 13's high 12's all day long. The only other car im even considering besides the sho is the new R/T awd charger. They are 2 totally different cars but both still great. Wife thinks the charger is more me but i think she's wrong there both me i like them equally.

I have two (3yr & 5yr) kids and the SHO isn't lacking in the family hauler dept. There's plenty of space for them & their carseats. Trunk is very roomy, I bet it could swallow a couple of adults easily. The new Taurus was designed with the family in mind, no doubt about it.
It's the reason why I ended up going with the SHO over the G37 & S4.

On rare occasions my work pals coerce me into driving. KNOW this: they do not like packing 3 into the rear seat. These are normal sized adults also, I've certainly seen plenty of larger teens. So I don't know your particular details but I also would be real cool on suggesting 5 people will enjoy their trip in a SHO. Yes it can be done and the trunk may be quite big, but the back seat is not. Another friend has a Honda Pilot, if passenger comfort is a priority you may want to look at that.

I have a family of 5 and own a 2011 Tuxedo black PP SHO and the kids love it and it has plenty of room, the trunk has alot of space and comfortable cross country driving, my wife loves driving it as well I like performance and luxury and tech and this car has it all for a great price, no other car company can compete I believe in this Niche at the moment for this price and performance.

PILOT??? Daughter has one... GOD AWFUL.... Get the Flex... add a Carriage works grille like mine and you will LOVE IT.... If you gotta have a SUV or a Wagon....





Flex has been to dealer only once... at 1,500 mi for a dash squeak...

Only other issue was new plugs... I installed at 33K....

We love it... driving long distances from FL to IA... or at the strip!

Hey!! Now it's clicking!!! I still hangout over on Camaro5 in the V6 section... great group of guys there! And yes, I've been posting in your thread over on Camaro5!!!

Skip stage 2 and go right to Stage 4+!!! (assuming you can get 93 octane). But yeah, love the EcoBoost! I'm having more FUN with my Flex than I did with my Camaro or my Mustang! The EcoBoost is truly amazing!
