Generally I just run for t-shirts.
Grammar is fun.
Anyway, I can't help you in choosing a tire as I have 0 experience, but I can tell you that you CANNOT just use 2 winter tires. Whichever end of the car doesn't have winter tires will slide about as if you put flat metal plates on those corners. If you get any winter tires, GET ALL FOUR.

Definition two is what I am using.
Sure you can use just two winter tires. I do it all the time on RWD vehicles, just not as safe as 4 winter tires, but a lot cheaper.
I did put 4 on this car since its FWD
Back from upstate, the mastercraft glacier grip were extremely good with traction. Unbelievably, I was able to pull forward from a complete stop uphill on a side street with 4 inches of unplowed snow on the ground and no studs installed. The aggressive tread did great for that.
My only complaint was that I had consistent vibration after 60mph, which became extremely irritating after a couple hundred miles. When I got back, I had them re-balanced and all tires were a half ounce off.
Its better, but there is still a slight vibration after 70, which I attribute to the nature of the tire, pretty comfortable otherwise.
