So 2yrs ago I had the opportunity to purchase a new daily driver, the only requirements I had was it needed to be fast, fuel efficient and the ability to be heavily modded someday. After looking at everything from imports and domestics I came down to the new SHO (being a huge fan of the original and Ford running deep in the family) and the BMW 135i. Both very different cars, but both direct injected twin turbo 6 cyl's. It ultimately came down to the BMW due to the monthly payment at that time being about $150/month less.

Now 2 yrs later, my winter driver (03 SVT Focus) needed to be but down and my wife agreed to buying something I would drive in the winter and she would drive in the winter. I saw the opportunity and jumped at it. So last Friday I picked up the below from Royal Oak Ford.

2012 Taurus SHO
White Platinum TriCoat
402A Packaged
Navigation
20" wheels

After driving the car for the past few days, all I can say it seems to a great car. I amazed at how quiet and composed the car is on the highway, the technology is great and the fit and finish is outstanding. I must admit it is a better all around driver than the BMW was new, performance is a different story, but after all the SHO is 1100 lbs heavier. I really think I will enjoy this car!!!

Now time will tell if I can keep the promise to the wife and leave this one stock, but with Livernois locally and what some of you are up to on here I may have a hard time with that. I just installed my weathertech floor mats and now looking for the 1st appearance mods.

I swore I would keep the BMW stock until it was out of warranty but by the time the 1st yr was out I had transformed it from a sporty daily driver to a true street machine. Below are a few pics and a list of mods, all done myself at home

Well, welcome to the forum! I'm not far from you and have driven a few new SHOs from Royal Oak Ford before (just wanted to test drive them).

That's a pretty sweet 135i you got there. I feel like I've seen it around. Have you gone to the Cars, Coffee & Karts at Kart2Kart? I've taken my SHO and truck there a few times.

I think you and your wife will really enjoy the new SHO as winter DD with the AWD and other amenities. I know how you feel about trying not to mod a car under warranty though. I really wanna mod my Super Duty in the worst way, but it's still got about 15K of powertrain warranty left and repairs on that motor ain't cheap, but I figure I'll go through that mileage in less than a year. Then the fun begins

If you just do a tune your wife would never know. especially if you do it while it is still new so she does not notice how much power it has. "oh it is just that fast stock hun"

The biggest positive to a SHO tune is that the tranny will shift like it should have from the factory. The extra power is just icing on the cake.

Go take a test drive in the Livernois SHO!

Congratulations and welcome back to the SHO family. Sometimes we argue and fight just like a family too. Anyway, be sure to post some photos of the SHO when you pick it up!

I'm in the process of trying to convince my wife to get an EcoBoost MKT to replace her MKZ that she thinks is too small for hauling our 3 kids around in.... Wish me luck.

Order the tuner from Livernois. As soon as you hang up the phone give Mobsteel a call and order a grill from them (also local). While doing that place an order for Weathertech mats since the state will dump salt on anything more than 1/2" of snow. If you want to drive a tuned car let me know. Im in Clinton Twp, but I drove all over the place. I have snow tires on now, but they will still grab on the cold pavement.

Is the 402a performance package? If so you should look into a set of snow tires. The summer tires are going to be awful in the snow.

Thanks for the welcome guys, hope to see some of you around. I have been up to Cars and Coffee a few times but I also drive all over town.

I like that idea of tuning early and just letting the wife think all the power is just the stock SHO, after all she knows I bought a performance minded vehicle. I will post a few pics of the SHO over the weekend.

Was that really called for? Sorry I didn't go through the thread with a fine tooth comb. I'm just trying to spread the word about an american company who makes great products.

Absolutely.

Is your username an indication that you are actually Billy Mays and faked your death? J/K ;)
