Excellent post Bob. I've read some b4 but not all those.
Thanks for taking the time to amass them.

Cheers,
Colin.

Enjoyed all the history regarding W/M in Airplane engines, and the amazing increases in horsepower...

Also found interesting, the competing concepts of "simpler is better" and those who swear by sophisticated boost controllers.

My W/M system is on the simple side, with a boost switch that turns on and off at a specific boost pressure. What I've found is that my intake temps go down substantially thru around 60-70 mph and then slowly rise, but still stay considerably lower than at the start of a WOT run, or at the Strip. I would guess that if I sprayed with a larger nozzle, I would see the temps come down further.

My Nitto Drag Slicks arrive tomorrow. However won't get to the strip this weekend as sons arrived today for Homestead Sunday NASCAR Championship race. First flight got cancelled --- THANK YOU AMERICAN AIRLINES--- so we had to drive cross state to Fort Liquordale to get them.

LOL, Fort Liquordale. Good one.
Love the discussion on Water Meth induction and hope to actually partake sometime in the future.

Nitto's should help with you're quest for lower 12's good luck with that; can't wait to see how much they help. g/l.

I have a hunch that pretty soon everyone will be chasing E-Brick Bob.:woo-hoo:

Hope the Homestead weekend goes well -- Is that the Ford Championship weekend? -- It should be on here too -- I'll endeavour to catch it.

-- oh yeah, I was out in the 'vette today and got stuck in a blizzard (thankfully for only 5 minutes) -- typical mid winter doozer. Unbelievable!

If this keeps up I'm gettin' the **** out of Dodge and headin' south.:fit:

They still fly Douglas DC-6's up here in Alaska. I was a flight engineer for a year on the DC-6. The water/methanol injection is amazing on those Pratt Whitney R-2800's. For take off your power goes from about 1800 to 2400 HP with it switched on. And thats on 4 engines! It's an automatic system, when pressure sensors detect that the w/m inj is on the carbs automatically lean out to best power mixture, which is where the power comes from. It was quite a thrill to have those 4 throttles in your hands!

If it's unleaded, it will work fine. You can tune for it and get considerably more performance. But NEVER use any LEADED RACING FUEL... it will really screw up your Cats and other things. In effect, W/M works like racing fuel as it increases the theoretical octane, by cooling the charge, + methanol has a higher octane by itself.

If I added a meth/ water system to my 2011 would my Livernois 4+ tune need to be upgraded?

That's not necessarily true...you can run a more aggressive tune, safer, with the addition of methanol. You don't really NEED another tune though

The 4+ will run just fine. However your overall WOT performance may be less than before. This happened to me. The W/M system without leaning out the tune a bit, caused my Brick to run rich and therefore I lost a tenth or 2. After a tune( actually several over time to determine optimum) I was able to lower my times between .4 & .5 sec, from before or a half second better than W/M and original Torrie's Boosted Tune.

W/M as Darreli says gives you a big safety margin, whatever tune you use, when running at WOT.

You'll get the safety effects without a tune, but likely will not get all the additional power. I run w/m for safety rather than power as I already have tractionless axle and transmission breaking power. :)

I yield to the authority on this topic (the man above) and stand corrected to say you SHOULD run a MODIFIED 4+ tune file.

I <3 u Darrell (no ****). :hail:[/QUO

However... you were MOSTLY correct. As a new - separate tune file is required (by the seat of your pants-lol) if you are going to spend all that money on a W/M system!
:thankyou:
