Does anybody no what the sound is when you unlock the car or open the door? Sounds like a fuel pump priming but that would be stupid.

Then it must be "stupid", but that is indeed the fuel pump priming bro.....

What's so stupid about it though?

This topic has been covered in at least one other thread. It's the same noise as when you open the trunk, or open a door on an unlocked car. It is the fuel system priming the high pressure GDI system. With push button starting the car doesn't have that "key in run position" opportunity to properly pressurize the system. The R&D team probably determined that people don't like a 1 or 2 second delay when pressing the button before the car starts.

Well i think its stupid cause you get into your car all the time without starting it. Seems like extra wear and tear to me.

If it doesn't prime then, when would you expect it to? I like to unlock my car, jump in and start it all within a few seconds.

Most cars do prime when you turn the key nonetheless. Most you can't hear really. Yeah, maybe its more wear and tear like you said but SHOrod explained why its needed and I'm with Bill and wanting to get in my car and take off when I want to.

Love this feature. If there's anything I hate it's that a car must turn over and over unnecessarily to start. (as in the past)

Ware and Tear notwithstanding, I'll take the auto pump prime every time. You can bet Ford built in extra toughness where necessary to combat any issues.
I wish every car were like that.
