I have a 95 atx I am swapping to an MTx I have all the parts needed to do the swap right now I am in the drivers seat trying to figure out where the hole that is needed for the linkage I already have the one cable through the firewall but I can't remember where the hole on the floor is supposed to be. If anyone has a picture that would be great. In the meantime I'll start putting the clutch and brake pedals in.

There probably isn't one in an ATX car. I suspect you'll either have to make a hole for the cable or just get a rod shifter and poke a hole in the tunnel. There are dimples in the top of the tunnel that show the proper location to mount a rod shifter.

That is one thing I miss about the Nissan/Datsun 280zx (1979-1983). If you wanted to swap from an ATX to an MTX all you had to do was knock out precut holes, mount all hardware to existing screw and bolt holes and you were good to go. Literally an MTX swap could be done in hours.

You will get it done.

All ATXs are GenII chassis, which never had cable shifters. So the likelihood of there being a hole, or a dimple for a hole, for a cable shifter cable is pretty low.

There are, however, dimples for locating the rod shifter, which just requires a hole to be cut in the top of the tunnel. That's just in case you'd rather put a rod shifter in instead of a cable shifter.

My ATX had a stamping on the floor board showing the cutout for the mtx shifter including the bolt pattern.

all of the bodies have the dimples for the bolt pattern for the rod shifter. you generally have to scrape the tar / sound dampener material off in order to see them.

Yep, there was a depression where the shifter fit thru. And 4 dimples where each screw passes thru. Had to cut those out when I did mine.

I recently put a cable shifter into my 95'. There should be a square/ rectangular depression off center to the left on top of the exhaust tunnel. Center the hole saw on the upper left hand corner. I will see if I can scan a drawing of some sort and post it up.
