Can anyone recommend a cheap(as in under $95) head unit? If possible, it needs to have a usb or SD input.

I need something that sounds better than this old factory HU.:thankyou:

I bought a sony xplode kit from walmart for 100$. came with 2 6x9's, 2 6's, and a nice headunit with aux port and aux cable. Sounds great for the price, plenty of bass and nice clear high's.

Check the crutchfield website. They have good package deals where you buy the head unit and they include everything you need to install it.

Just so you know, sony makes good stuff typically, but they make horrible car audio equipment.

X2! I've got an earlier model Sony Xplode, no usb or aux, in my 91. It's connected through the factory JBL system and it's worked real well for over 4 years. :salute:

Same here. Except mine was i think their first model to have the usb. Love how it doubles as a phone charger.

Id buy a Pioneer over sony anyday , Then again I got no idea how they run for.

But if you can grab an Alpine. And cross check with ebay , sometimes they have some deals. Thats where I got mine and I saved 120$ on my Alpine HU.

eBay, grab a used Alpine.

I bought my Alpine like 8 years ago, and it's still one of the best sounding head units I've ever listened to. Especially with the ability to time correct for speaker placement.

You need some cheap speakers as well. Those front ones are kinda shot.

Jeremy, I swapped for the one's that were in the red car... They were a high quality left over from the system that was robbed outa that car. They're Overdrives by Blaupunkt. Sound pretty good too :sun:

What do ya'll think about JVC's HUs? Just throwing the options out there.

Some good answers here, but I've always like the Kenwood units.

They usually have 22w RMS per channel. Here's one...$85 bucks.

Aftermarket Pioneer Supertuner3 in the Benz picks up radio stations farther away than any other radio I own. Course FM Radio probably isn't your top criteria.

Actually, I'm pretty picky on the reception, but I also realize I'm talking about entry-level radios here ;)
