Front bumper paint chips off. Maybe get 3M clear bra??

My Ford Dealer who painted my SHO told me to wait 60 days to let it cure before waxing *shrug*

Yes I would delay the cleaning waxing also. Car washes also, I'm mean paid car washes. The presoak is very corrosive and can streak and fog clear coat. I found this out the hard way before. Hand washing is fine, just dry the paint being so fresh even water spots could etch into. With temps everyone is having hold off at least 10 days

I recommend waiting the month. I work factory for 25yrs, and we bake for much longer and much high temps. And the paint isn't still fully cured.

Funny, the body shop that repaired my hood said the same thing. The body shop does bake the paint, but use lower temps then the factory. Body shop said this is because the factory paints before assembly without interior or other parts so they can use higher temps. I am waiting at least 30 days before waxing although I am using Quick Detailer to clean dirt and rain water spots off the hood so they don't have a chance to set.

Yeah a bump shop bakes at prolly 180 degrees for 20mins this only done to speed up the drying time so they can get out of the spray booth. Doesnt compare to 400-450 degrees for 45mins to a hour.

Another question: Take a look at my new mobsteel grille. The lower portion has the ACC cover painted silver. I wanted to paint the indented part black to match the other side. Should this be a big deal or is this an easy job? I don't want to send it back to mobsteel if I don't have to; i would rather just have it fixed when I get the entire front bumper painted

Should be a snap, you probably could do yourself with a can of flat black some masking tape, 800 grit paper and razor knife.

Or you could modify the ACC cover from the stock grill and fasten it to the Mobsteel grill.

Sweet! I like the idea of using the stock cover. Thikn it will fit easily? Any ideas on how to go about doing this??

I believe the cover snaps in place in the stock grill, you would have to trim the snaps off of the cover and then attach it to the new grill. My first thought would be to use 3M double sided tape to attach it to the Mobsteel grill.

As i said in the other thread, why not just cut a piece of gloss black vinyl? It would cost a few bucks and nobody would be able to tell the difference. If you get tired of it just peel it off. However if you don't want to go that route, I would not paint it yourself or try and hack it to fit the stock cover. Have the body shop paint it for you when you are getting the bumper painted. The last thing you want it to mess up your new grill.

I got my car back. They did the TSB 11-5-6, repaired two rattles (sunroof noise and arm rest little annoying ding ding...) and they repainted the front bumper entirely, the loading area of the back bumper and while at it, I asked them to repaint the engine cover to match the rest of the car... it looks fantastic, very clean job. I cleaned the car myself, gently with soft water and a little soap just to remove the dust to take pics and will wait until the end of the month for a wax and then 3M bra for front and rear bumpers.
Here are some pics of front bumper (including repair of holes from removing front plate), rear bumper and engine cover painted match-to-match. Didn't know if posting under that thread was appropriate, but here it goes, hope you don't mind and enjoy the pics! :
