Hey all,

I am interested in getting some lowering springs for the SHO. I see that there are 2 companies to choose from Eibach and H&R... Who do you all think has the better product??????

Probably pretty equal IMHO. The H&Rs are a little more aggressive drop but I love them

Even with extra load tires, the ride with H & R's on my Brick, which has stiffer rear coils than SHO H &R units, due to load capacity, is NOT HARSH. Very pleased with them. If I had a SHO, would go with H & R's. due to drop.

I'll probably go with the Eibach because of the moderate drop. The car sits way low in the front with the H&R.

I'd have no problem going H&R again. The ride is just a bit stiffer but not in anyway uncomfortable. I've never had a problem scraping anything with the front either, just unplowed snow over 5 inches.

That's good to know. I'd like to see a SHO in person with the H&R springs. Hopefully I'll get to check out a few at Ford Carlisle this year.

I thought I had a photo of a car with Eibach springs, but I guess I didn't take any. They definitely aren't as low as the H&R's.

Here is our car with the H&R's

How was the ride on each? What's on the car now? It's hard for me to get a feel for the size of the wheel well gap on the H&R. How many fingers or inches we talking?

Ours has had H&R's since day 1. We installed Eibach's on another car. There is definitely less gap with the H&R's and they are definitely a stiffer ride than the Eibach's, but I prefer the drop and ride with them over the Eibach's.

I can fit 2 fingers between the front and rear.

Edit: I had a few pm's asking about tint. The rears are double limo (5%), the front sides are limo, and the windshield is 35%.

In the Mustang world, Eibach quality is inconsistent, but yet H&R is always right on the money. I had Eibachs on my 95 SHO, and absolutely hated them. I wouldn't touch another Eibach product again.

So yeah, H&R all the way.

Two finger gap is about what I'm looking for. It's hard for me in the pictures to tell that because at times the tires look tucked in a the fender a little.

How does the car do clearing speed bumps?

I really want to lower the car and normally such a large drop just destroys ride quality and the stock shocks.

The car clears speed bumps fine.

I don't think the ride quality changed much. We installed the H&R's on our car the day we got it and on Darrell's when it was pretty new. I know his car has more miles than ours, so he may be able to comment on the shocks.

I did the springs and first tuned it with 436 miles on the odometer. I have a little less than 15,000 now. I still have a little negative camber in the rear (have the bolts just havent switched them out yet) but i have no odd wear on my tires so it hasnt been that pressing for me. Clears speed bumps fine, scrapes once in a while on a steep driveway but thats about it. I came from my Lightning though that was low enough to scrape on pretty much anything so its much improved over that.

Shocks seem to be holding up just fine, and I've found no aftermarket shocks to speak of yet. I keep my eyes peeled.

I think the ride quality is actually better than stock, but thats my opinion. If you like the softer, boatier ride you may not feel the same. It's not harsh at all so dont read that wrong but I found the stock setup to be a little soft for my taste.
