The SHO is a fine vehicle. It's just not what everybody hoped and dreamed it could be. But then again, how many cars really are?
There are SHOs in the 12s, so there is plenty of power to be had if you want it. And, with Ecoboost coming to so many cars/trucks, the propensity of go-fast parts for it is inevitable.

You can gain performance by reducing the weight of the wheels and tires you have without warranty problems.

I see it kind of the same way you do. The SHO is quicker than 90% of other vehicles on the road. I think its lacking a bit of power as well for the weight. I'm not disappointed in the power at all, racing a BMW 650 and I managed to stay right next to him all the way to 130 when we had to back down. Very solid car even at high speeds.
The car is drop dead sexy. I get so many compliments from random people about how good it looks. As long as its clean it attracts eyeballs quickly.
As for all the negative reviews, who cares? The people that come to the Gen4 section here and ***** 90% of the time do not even own a gen4 and for that matter cannot afford one if they wanted one.

You understand that even with the SRT-8, the SHO is still some 300lb heavier than the Dodge right?
4,000-4,100lb is more or less average these days for a large sedan/coupe, not so with 4,400.
that's disturbing to hear. By the way, a lot of Ford's engineering is done out of the Saarland, and the Taurus was designed by the help of Swedes whose parents helped the German war effort. I guess it doesn't matter that the Buick Regal is currently built by "****'s" if it has a Buick badge. By the way, Honda makes more cars in America than in Japan now (and they export some of those cars to Japan)

I did a test drive on a new SHO last summer and this spring ran it twice on the autocross track at Barrett-Jackson. I think the new SHO is a very nice car and a decent value for the money. The car I ended up buying tips the scales at 4400lbs. I really notice the weight when I am cornering and accelerating from a stop.
The main reason I didn't get the new SHO was that I wanted a V8 (love that V8 sound) and feel the torque that a supercharged V8 delivers.
I would have picked the SHO over the Dodge Charger or Chrysler 300C.

Great idea. Lets shut down the Honda plants hiring American workers and have American auto makers come in and use the plants. Then in another 20 years when GM and Chrysler realize they do not know how to run a company, lets fire all the American workers again because we cant pay for them.

Seeing that the **** party is illegal and Germans hate Nazis, so even if one did somehow run that's a ridiculous reason. A lot more ****'s run for office over here (both in name and behavior), and of course not all American's are ****'s, but still I probably shouldn't buy an American car.
I dont think the SHO is geared towards a full blow performance car. As someone else mentioned it's a little bit of luxury and a little bit of performance for a good price. I cant think of any other cars that give you so much for the money. You can go to Mercedes or BMW and get all the same features for $20,000 or more with less performance, or get a 300 srt-8 with worse gas mileage, more power, and less amenities for about the same price.
I am very happy with the SHO. I have let several people drive my car and each and every single one said the car was awesome. Sure the SHO is heavy, but it's a big car and it is quiet and smooth. I can drive down the freeway at 80mph and barely hear a sound.

Dodge, who are owned by Italians would be a no go in this case, but then again I would have thought Henry Ford's admiration for ****** (and vice versa) would have discouraged the OP from buying a Ford to begin with as well.
Maybe his next car should be a Renault?
