Hey guys, I just purchased a 96 sho and was wondering how these cars run if you put regular 87 octane gas in them??

I run mine on 87 just fine. When it gets really hot out (90+ degrees) I will put 89 or 92 in it as I notice some pinging when I get on the throttle.

I wouldn't. Especially in the summer. I would go to midgrade if I was feeling frugal.

I only run 87. 89 E10 a couple times in winter to burn up any moisture in the tank.

Yes. Only 87. All the time.

Back in the day, the first three V8 SHOs to run in the 14s all did so on 87 octane (mine was the first).

If it doesn't like 87, it isn't running right.

I put 87 in mine for the 9 years that I've owned the car. I only put higher octane in it if I'm taking it to the track. But for the drag strip it gets 87.

I run 93, but with the $10 a month in gas I put in it, the savings are miniscule. Guess that tells you how much I drive my SHO.

93 octane in nearly all my vehicles. If I put a lower grade they tend to ping like crazy. Can't imagine why......:nut:

87 but I live at a high elevation and it's hard to find anything higher than 91 around here.
