Hi guys,

I sent BlueOval a pm about this.

Why isn't Roush trying to do anything with the SHO?

I had a Roush S/C on my F150 and was extremely happy with it. Especially since Roush picked up/covered the remainder of the engine warranty on my truck.

It's unfortunate but understandable that nobody is wanting to add a perf. package that covers the 3/36,000 warranty. :(

most likely due to the fact that it's a low volume niche vehicle. mustangs and F-150s are literally everywhere...SHOs aren't. it sucks to have to put all that money into R&D for a car with very limited production. it's difficult to get a return on investment.

agreed 100% but why did they not try to do anything with the gen 1/2 sho from what i understand the were a pretty high demand vehical (could be mistaken) when they were first produced witch is why they went to the auto

considering there was roughly 100k SHOs produced between 89 to 99, that's not a real high volume vehicle...

Everything said is true. However, as more EcoBoost applications come on-board, the future will see increased interest by Roush and others. These will find SHO applications as well.:salute:

DJ is right. I just got some pics/info on the Ecoboost F-150 yesterday. It is being tested and they claim the truck has been tuned to run 400hp/400tq in its application with the 3.5 Eco motor. Of course it's in the truck platform, but I know the Mustangs/F-150s with the 4.6s share alot of common upgrade parts so I'm sure we'll be seeing compatible parts for the whole Eco line of motors.

Another possible reason for tuner reluctance is the FWD Tranny and the AWD system limitations.

Trucks have heavier components, and larger cooling systems.

I thought the SHO was using the heavier duty truck trans, at least I thought I heard that somewhere, could be off my rocker though...

Whats your definition of a 'truck'? In my def. there's a no fwd based clause...

I haven't seen Jack lately to ask him SpAz but my new neighbor might have the answer, people tell me he knows a lot about making Fords go fast.

I'll see if I can get Mr. Yates off his tractor long enough to ask him.

He'll probably tell me to go ask Doug. :)

Day late and a dollar short.

Hey SpAz:

I just played your clip featuring your blown F150.

I wish I hadn't done that, as I almost cried remembering the whine that my Lightning made. In fact, I played the vid several times at increasing volume levels until my wife told me to knock it off.

Of all the different sounds we can get from our vehicles with exhaust, intake and so on, I think nothing beats the visceral sound of a blower

So sad we can't get the same sound out of our EcoBoost vehicles.

Thanks for the memory.

Bill

Another thing is Roush actually did a lot of the leg work in developing and testing the 3.5L EcoBoost V6. So they have already done plenty of work on it, you just get it from the factory instead ;)

I sold my Lightning with a kenne bell to buy my Taurus so I could have a back seat. While I do miss the supercharger whine, I kinda prefer the sound of a turbo car.

The Corsa is definately not what my kooks/bassani v8 was but it is getting a little louder with still minimal drone and I have to admit it's kinda nicer on longer trips
