I was just wondering if a mustang cold air intake would work on a sho? If anyone knows please let me know because i can't find any for the sho anymore. I've been wanting one for a while and saw them all over but didnt have the money for one, now that i have the money for one i cant seem to find one anywhere. I got to thinking maybe one from a mustang or some other car will fit if anyone has any ideas shoot them my way. Thanks for your time

are you talking about a big shiny elbow tube with a filter jammed on the end of it sucking in hot air from the engine compartment, or are you talking about something that'll actually enhance performance?

i used a regular sleeve off the throttle body then ran it to the MAF 75mm, then used a sleeve for like insulating pipes then a gutter peice to fit in the slot for the fender and called K&N and told them the dimensions i needed and they sent me a filter to autozone...

And you think the air in the fender well that the stock intake is pulling in is somehow not cold??? (maybe you want a snorkel to a refrigerator truck?)

I got a Goodcars CAI on ebay; fits and looks great and has a can surrounding the filter so cold air is drawn in from the fender; there is a lot more space under the hood versus the stock box, the tip-in throttle response is a little better and it sounds a bit throatier, but nothing significant, HP wise. I had a K & N in the stocker that was replaced too.

try spectre. they sell tubing at all different angles to drop the filter where you want it. when you remove the stock air box on the side is a hole that lets the air box drawl fresh cold air well drop the filter infront of the driver side wheel and buy a universal splash gaurd from ebay 10$

It's plastic.. that spectre stuff.. I don't like it.. where is something similar thats steel? anyone? Possibly a mandrel 45 or 30 whatever that angle is..

I built one from a trash can and a rubber elbow from Home Depot.
If you take your time it will look professional.

I did the same thing, well minus the trash can. Just get an elbow and a small straight tube, run it into the fender. Then get one of those small spectre filters from Auto Zone. Fits perfectly and looks good. Would take a photo but the SHO is at the in laws awaiting an engine swap.

If you want metal instead of plastic go to an exhaust shop they can make an intake pipe for you. (I had a 4" made for my Talon TSI when I had it)

According to whom?

According to a large number of forum members. Not sure why you'd argue this, it pulls cold air from the fender as opposed to most CAI that pull air from the engine bay.

Im assuming your argument will be that you can make a CAI that pulls air from the fender as well, and flow better. But fact is, how much of a HP gain is that going to make? id venture to guess 5 if your lucky. doesnt seem worth it money to HP wise to me. That money would be put to better use saved up for something like a Y pipe.

5HP to the crank if your lucky, I usually get an aftermarket intake installed on my vehicles. But I never look to gain performance wise, the sound tricks you into thinking you are faster.
