Chuck welded the cams in my old SHO four years ago - I would NOT recommend him. He welded the main drive gear to the cam (which he wasn't supposed to do), but the weld was such a horrible cold weld that I was still able to unbolt the gear and pop it right off the cam.

Brad Swinford no longer lives in Lafayette Indiana. I think he moved out east and sold his car.

I think Eric will be the closest welder.

I have always taken the cams out for welding. Mainly because I have had cam failed engines that needed head work.

I think he moved out east and sold his car. (CT or MA??)

I think Eric Lehmann (E1 v2) will be the closest welder.

Edit: Brad Swinford's name on this forum is SHOBRAD. He is listed as the former owner of Swinford Engineering.

His home town is listed as New Milford, CT.

How to get to know your SHO V8? Grab a copy of Ford Taurus Sable service
manual with the SHO supplement and study as you tear into your engine. If you have any mechanical savy you will learn quickly. Good luck!!!

I realize that this thread is over a year and a half old, but I just picked up a blk 98 with 76k miles this last weekend and need to get the cams welded. I am in lafayette, IN. Is Eric in Lombard still doing this? I already checked out the V8SHO site and everything seems outdated and old. Are people still even doin this?

Still here. Still doing the welding thing on Saturdays. Just saved a really loose one last Saturday that was knocking pretty loud.
