Need some infos on the GEN3 subframe swap.

Im getting ready to do this , here's some questions.

Will newer windstar subframe work? Or lincoln?

Will it fit in my 94 knuckles? (with 96+ LCAs)

Whats the whole deal about that ZF rack? Does SLOs have ZFs?


Any other mods to do in order to fit?

Mine is shimmed up to get the right geometry for the steering since my car is lowered, everything cleared fine on my car the rack wasn't much closer than the stock one on my car and not about to hit the firewall. I just didn't think it was necessary and this is the first I heard of having to cut the firewall. Not saying you didn't have to. I even had enough room for my PS line off the pump to run in between the firewall and the rack

Didn't have to do any cutting here either, but my subframe is fully forward and the rack is shimmed. The boot doesn't fit in the hole perfect, but it works. I might pull the shims out sometime; I'm wondering if they add give in the steering.

Kelvin is this in reference to your 91, or 93 car? I have heard the Gen I steering boot does not fit well to the ZF rack.

This is in my 93. I'm using the ZF rack, both Gen 3 boots, and the Gen 3 intermediate steering shaft.

That is correct. I don't think its causing any issues, but sometime I might take a closer look.

Ahh thats why I didnt have a problem with it, Im using the Gen2 steering shaft and boots.
