Took the 2010 SHO to a local oil change place to get the oil changed. I use my own oil (Amsoil 0w30), and filter. In the past this place would charge me $15.00 for the work.
I drive in with the SHO, and the guy says this car needs a special oil
which I don't have. I told him I have my own oil, and filter. He tells me it will be $15.00 for the oil change, and $15.00 to remove the skid plate. He said there are pins that break, there are six of them, and it's a real complicated sysyem,
he said you're better off going to the dealer.:rainshit:
I decided to do the oil change myself, and see what all the fuss was about (skid plate). There is a large plastic skid plate covering the engine block area. There are four (4) twist lock type bolts that hold the skid plate on. I was able to loosen them by hand (seems to be a secure system), and remove the skid plate. It took approximately 30 seconds to remove the plate! And about 45 seconds to re-install it!
The oil change went smooth. Drain plug, and oil filter were easily accessible.
Don't let anyone rip you off, regarding the skid plate.
