A lot of people ask for new valve cover grommets, and SHO Souce is listening.

We have a manufacturer willing to build brand new valve cover grommets, but we want to see if the price point is acceptable. This is only gauging interest at this point. There is about a 3-4 week development time (and a significant cost) if we go forward.

The specs:

Custom designed valve cover grommets for the 16 large V6 grommets (the 4 small ones do not leak, so you do not need to replace them).

The material would be Viton which is a much superior product to the factory rubber. These grommets should last much longer.

Target cost is about $45 for a set of 16. We want to find out if there is "sticker shock" with this price. We are going to have to buy A LOT of sets, so we do not want to sit on a bunch of overpriced items.

How bad do you want new valve cover grommets?

Speak up and let us know.

Thanks

Mike

Edited to add the link to the ad from page 3. Now taking pre-orders.

I had to wait until April 2nd just to make sure it was not a joke.

Today we received the test samples of the valve cover bolt grommets. They look great and fit great. We will go ahead and order up our first batch. In the mean time, I activated the ad so people can preorder. This is not a group buy, just an opportunity to preorder and get in on the first sets we receive. Since this is a new product, I estimate our supplier could take 4-6 weeks to get us the bulk order, but maybe we will get a nice surprize.

Here is the ad for those interested:

Thanks for the support

I for one would be absolutely happy to pay $45 for brand spankin' new valve cover grommets, and would be able and happy to plunk that down right now.

****, I'd pay $60 for color-coordinated grommets. You can make Viton different colors, right? I'd love some blue ones. Yeah, you don't really see them much, but every little bit counts...

I will check on colors. No promises there.

We might be able to do custom annodized or powdercoated washers for the valve cover bolts to get you color if you want.

I was going to say I'd be in for at least three, but at $45 I'd probably only buy two sets to begin with. Actually, I suppose the price is reasonable for what it is.

Nonetheless, awesome work guys!

That's not a half bad idea. That would probably be something I'd get done locally though... seems like a lot of effort for some washers lol. Maybe anodized... powdercoating wouldn't survive more than a few loosen/tighten cycles.

I would LOVE a set, and would eventually buy an additional set for my other car. I think that price is great... as long as it doesn't double. :p

I'd take a set, depends on when this happens though I don't have the money now, but I think the price is pretty fair and I have no problem paying that.

Great idea and a decent price. I think they should be sets of 18 though. Even 17 would be good. This way everyone that buys will have a spare in case there's a leaker or one gets lost or damaged.

And...if you found a way to incorporate them into a "Complete Valve Cover Seal Set" you would sell a lot more. At 119.99 for the complete set, I can imagine LOTS of people would go for that.

I'd definitely be in for a set, too. $45 is quite reasonable, especially if I don't have to worry about them again.

That's a great price. When I investigated it, it was going to cost much more than that. I'd be in for a set too. Maybe two.
