I have an 01 GT and my new SHO. The '01 GT has an aggressive Borla exhaust and I love it. My hope is that Borla is going to be coming out with an exhaust very soon.

Anyone hear anything on this? I've searched online (eBay, Summit, etc.) and can't find anything.

The sound they give is awesome. Deep rumble w/o the interior drone at highway and idle. Had flowmasters on the 01 before and the drone at 70-75mph was aweful. I think I lost like 5 years of hearing from those darn things.

Thank you for that info. I'm going to assume they'd give me a discounted/free intake out of the deal?...hmmm...looks like another call I'll be making on Monday. (Borla and AEM).

I've never used an AEM intake, never did like the metal tubes. Metal heats up, especially aluminum and stays hot. I've got a Volant on the wifes Expy and an aFe on my Stang. Can't beat free though...lol

I'll keep you all updated.

I would think having an intercooler would make an aluminum intake pipe irrelevant, right?

I have an AEM Intake on my srt and it works really well.. And looks amazing. I don't think it gets that hot it gets warm obviously but I don't think I've felt it hot to the touch before.

Born and raised in Buena Park, Anaheim area. I've spoken with the Tech at Volant quite frequently and he's a really cool guy (Dan). He helped guide me through my Expy install over the phone. The dude knows what he's talkin about.

I'll let ya'll know what comes of the Borla/AEM conversations.

Have a great night!!!!

If they do make an exhaust, hopefully it is large. The Borla cat-back for the first (two) generation was a little small.

Hola,

OK, I called Borla and my timing was perfect because they either still have or had a SHO in last week for test fitment, etc... They do have a part number dedicated to the SHO exhaust. He called it a split rear dual exhaust. I got pricing, buuuuuuuuuuut the part is not available yet (to be released at the end of the year). This got my gears going. I asked for a Borla dealer in my area (sorry Borla I'm not paying your retail price) and they gave me their site. I saw it on their site, which surprised me because I cannot find it anywhere else. I called, and spoke at length about my new baby (SHO not the kids...lol). The rep. said they were currently taking pre-orders. He also lined me up with Volant's tech (Dan) to possibly be a test fit for their SHO intake kit. To make a long story short, my invoice number of 900-00723 is for my new BORLA FREAKIN EXHAUST.....**** yeah baby! I know you're not supposed to advertise for non-sponsored companys so I'm not going to list their site, but I'll give you their info. if you PM me.

It's time to clock out gents....

Can you give us any details on it? X-pipe, H-pipe, muffler deleted, what size resonators, diameter of the pipes, etc.?

The information I received from his was that it was a dual system, similar to the stock setup. I do know one of their concerns was maintaining the lower end torque, so from past experience I do not expect them to go up more than 1/4" in piping. Losing some back pressure is fine but losing it all would make my new baby a dog off the line.

I'll give them a call on my lunch tomorrow to see if they can even release the info. you've requested. The more I know, the more you guys'll know.

My interest is with regard to an improvement with the sound of the exhaust. If you read through SHODWN's thread at http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=103332&page=3, the stock exhaust is already pretty free flowing, you won't get an improvement in performance. You can see his pictures at http://www.nesho.com/2010catback.htm

 at quote from above mentioned nesho link.

I referenced the nesho link only so one can see what the stock exhaust looks like.

edit: I guess I should clarify. I'm referring to the catbacks, not the entire system. This is, after all, what we are talking about.

The stock exhaust has .5kpa of backpressure (none), I found this out after I made mine. The cat back made zero performance gains, maybe .0X but to me that don't count much.

There's another fix fer ya'll.
