I have a '96 V8 and it has a major loss of low end power recently. It seems to be almost misfiring all the way across the tach when I have the pedal to the floor. It also likes to idle rough and feel like a misfire. I was told that it could be my canister purge valve malfunctioning and not allowing my emissions system to function properly. Any suggestions or advice? These are more irritating than limiting as far as drivability goes. I just don't want them turning into something major down the road. I should also ad that I bought a cheap coil from ebay a while back. It is not a Ford part. Think that might be a possibility?

What?

Check your Coilpacks, Clean your Mass Airflow Sesnsor, Log on to SHOcal.com and see if anyone in your area is able to weld Cams. Before you do any of that however, Go to a Autozone, Pep-Boys...etc and have them run the codes on your vehicle as it should make diagnosing the problem a heck of a lot easier.

What he said. The FIRST thing to do is pull the codes, its a lot simpler to diagnose from there.
