Since I'm basically lazy, I'll just insert the email I wrote to a few folks last year with the info on these wheels. I have also inserted a pic below. These wheels are as good as a new wheel!! When I bought a set for my '89 last year, I paid $224 each. They are now On Sale for $162!!

Well worth it if you want some perfect '89 wheels:

**********************************
My ’89 still has the factory GT+4 tires, which as you know are no longer available anywhere. I don’t want to drive on these tires, but I want to save them for car shows.

Over the last couple of weeks, Dan Vinke and I have been searching for new ’89 lace wheels. The ones on the car are 9.5 on a 10 scale, and are as good as anyone could expect, but these lace wheels on ’89 SHOs probably started peeling before a lot of them left the dealers lot.

Anyway, after checking numerous sources, they are no longer available anywhere. FWIW, the part # is E6DZ-1007C

Further searching got me to this site with these wheels:

http://shop.iautobodyparts.com/sear...type=oem_wheelsrims&part_subtype=&shop_type=0

If this link directly to the wheels doesn’t work, just start your search at the Home page:

The wheel is the first one with Part # ALY01475U10

You can scroll down to follow the thread to getting these, but basically I called the guy to make sure that they weren’t the painted ’90-’91-style lace wheels.

The guy that answered the phone actually knew something about SHOs and the wheels!

Anyway, I asked the guy about the wheels. He actually knew the difference between the ’86-’89 and ’90-’91 lace wheels. He claims that the ALY01475U10 wheels are reconditioned, but they go through a 12-step process that strips them, remachines them, then clearcoats them. He also claims that if I put these wheels next to a set of NOS ’89 wheels, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Well, it was no BS, I can’t tell the difference!! See the pic

Anyway, these guys deal with all manner of wheels, and pretty much cover the SHO line. Prices are reasonable IMHO, and this is a way for folks who might be preserving or restoring an old SHO to get original wheels.

There are subtle differences.
I found that it's best to have your originals redone.

Guess I'm not sure of the difference between getting your own redone, or getting a set of someone else's that were redone.

I really didn't see a difference with the redone wheels.

They came in Keystone boxes, who is probably who redoes the wheels, and may very well have been one of the original vendors.

nice info

didn't the '90 have painted silver, and a unique center cap?

Yep, the 90s were painted. Which is also the year they offered the black and red ones.

They were also "brighter". I bought Ray Roitman's '90 wheels and had them on my '89. Looked good with the black car. When I cracked one in the telephone pole sideswipe, we could not find a '90 replacement, so a body shop got 4 '89 wheels and I gave him the other 3 90s.

The '90 painted wheels are the rarest SHO wheel. Wish I would have kept those other 3.

I have two sets of the 90 centercaps lying around also.

This is the E6 or 1986 marked lace wheel.
This style is on my silver 89.
The webbing thickness varies per style.
As well as the solid triangles nearest the hub.
And the 91's have a smooth under cap area.
