Just got finished doing maintance and installing 3.0 intake cams into my 93 3.2 atx. Finally got to drive it and noticed now it pings. Also is a little sluggish on the start. I figured the slugish was due to the cams. I think the timing is advanced, but not sure how I did that. Any clues. Had no issues before maintance and cam swap

Did you do a valve adjustment?

Also did you properly setup the timing?

Also get rid of the 73mm.

Check your timing marks:

1. Timing belt cog dots at the 12 o clock position in relation to the timing cover backing plate.
2. Timing marks on the exhaust cam sprockets should be at the 3 and 9 o clock positions. The dots line up level with the head.

3. Make sure the dots on the camshafts themselves line up with the dots on the sprockets. It is possible to put the sprockets 180 degrees sout of time. This will result in bucking, missing, and a ****** off yamahammer.

Did this help?

let's see...

if you used the MTX lower mark on the belt...your cam timing would be advanced...

If you had some 110 octane, you might get some extra power up top...

...at least...I think I got that right...
