I'm not sure what happened to my old thread, if it was lost in the depths of the void, or if a power-monger admin deleted it . . . but I was looking for suggestions, most specifically with clutches.

The clutch in my SHO is borked, but because I intend to sell the car once it is fixed, I'm not sure if I should put in a crappy Valeo, or put in something decent. Has anyone had luck with the South Bend clutches, and could compare them to maybe Clutchmasters or Spec (clutches that I've used)?

Uhh since when the Valeo are crappy?

If you are selling the car , that's what I would put in , except if you run serious mods.

I second those sentiments. My "crappy" valeo has taught 6 teenage girls how to drive a standard transmission car....and it has 60,000 miles on it...and it still feels NEW.

Ok, I take it back. I'm sure they are fine clutches, and is probably what I will settle on getting. RockAuto has "Brute Power" clutches, which I think are basically the same thing. The car only has the "mandatory" mods: Y-Pipe and removed silencer.

This car had a Valeo in it with an aluminum flywheel when I got it. I have a passion for drag racing, and I broke the weaker straps of the Valeo trying to keep the light flywheel spinning for good launches. After that, I replaced it with a Clutchmasters Stage 1, then the aluminum flywheel steel insert broke, nuking *that* clutch. I put in a spare steel flywheel with another CM1, and now something has happened to the pressure plate. What have I learned? I need to get a different car if I want to keep drag racing.

Now that right there is sig quote material, I don't care who you are...

Tom

A MEN TO THAT!!!

The only clutch that has taken all the abuse I can throw at it, is the CMIII.
Many drag launches at 5200rpm will no failure, other than CV shafts.
