Lets say I have a 1996 SHO and I need brake pads. I go to the local auto zone and say I need brake pads for a 1996 Taurus. THEY WILL GIVE ME THE WRONG PART.

SES
SEL
LIMITED
Are Trim Lines

SHO = Different model with different parts and different repair manuals.

if you go in and say you want brake pads for a 1996 Taurus, they will ask you what engine, the 3.0 OHV V6, the 3.0 DOHC V6, or the 3.4 DOHC V8. Not "Oh, SHO or Regular?"

I'll muddy the water even more, Kirk/James car IMHO is a gen 3.9.lol
That helped huh.
Do Camaro people do gens by body or motor?
I do gens by body, with all the mods to motors etc. it seems the gen is used more for body parts.
The new one will be refered to as a 4 by me, no matter what pols say. I kinda liked Archer saying Ecosho, but if they change the body and keep the engine what do we do then? Gen II Ecosho?
Do I really care, only long enough to type this post.

Guess I'm not done yet.
It seems the regular Taurus people are having an identity crisis, like the world will forget about the gl's etc.
It's the fourth version of the SHO, I don't get the confusion.

Thats fine by me as the 3.0 ohv and dohc will get you one part while the 3.4 will get you another, making them different.

If you think your SHO is just as boring as the regular Taurus, then call it the current generation of Taurus. Last I checked, we were SHO enthusiasts.... The regular Taurus does nothing for me.

In short, if you think it's a gen 6, you might as well leave out the SHO part of it.

not really, some parts all 3 are the same, other parts all 3 are different.

Like I said, A SHO is still a Taurus

It just happened to be for 4th and 5th Gen there was no Taurus SHO trim.

SHO is just a trim line of a taurus.

Exactly, nuff said. :munch:

The OHV, DOHC, SHO all have different parts which is why you tell the clerk the year and engine (or whatever car you need parts for - gen 3 brakes on gen 2's for example). Bringing the fact that all slos use the same parts and shos use completely different parts isn't right for this argument, they all have differnet parts. Believe it or not all SLOs aren't the same, though they do share some. That argument truly is irrelevant, then again this one is too.

I too am not turned on at all by SLOs, sure I own one but that doesn't mean I like it, that's beside the point... but hey we're on the 6th gen TAURUS, so while I think to myself it's only the 4th gen SHO, it is a 6th gen TAURUS and thus it's the 6th gen SHO. Again, this argument is irrelevant until years from now when there is another new SHO (well, if this one doesn't flop) and we can't call the 2010 the new SHO or the ECO or whatever the **** everyone is calling it. For now, my vote is just to call it Monster.

Why don't we scrap the gens and just give'm Mustang-like names. Hmmm, how about Sex body (that's a Fox body reference) cause that's what I want to do to the new SHO. BTW, my girlfriend knows I just said that, and she's down ;)

You guys are ******** if you think the SHO is anything but a Taurus. And there was a 4th and 5th generation Taurus

In my mind, there never was a 4th or 5th gen SHO.

What we have here is a 6th generation Taurus. SHO, SE, XYZ, ABC, whatever....it is still a 6th gen.

You're right, it IS a 6th gen TAURUS, but not a 6th gen Taurus SHO.

4th gen SHO.

Taurus G, GL, LX, SE, SES, SEL, Limited, X(lol)....I have not cared about any of you. So I really don't care that there are 6 generations of Taurus really. All I know is that there have been 4 distinctive models of SHO. :)

How about we just call it a SHO and a 4th generation at that. Seriously don't hurt yourselves over thinking too hard.

It's still the 4th generation of the SHO model, thus, Gen 4 SHO.

Like I said, A SHO is still a Taurus

You cant say SHO without Taurus behind it

You Also say the Generation name before Taurus

eg.

1st Gen Taurus SHO

4th Gen Taurus SE

6th gen Taurus SHO

It just happened to be for 4th and 5th Gen there was no Taurus SHO trim.

SHO is just a trim line of a taurus.

Exactly!!

The SHO just skipped two generations.
