how many miles did you have on your cars when you started using it and how many miles did you put on your tranny after having it in without having any problems. Anyone ever had any problems?

How about Fords friction modifier would that do the same thing as GM's syncromesh or is the gm stuff better?

153,*** on the car... unknown on the used transmission, i've been using the synchromesh for 300 miles now, i was having tons of probs before with the ATF, switching to synchromesh has made the transmission operate smoother than it has since i've owned the car.

friction modifiers: NO.

I stay away from any stabilizers, additives, or modifiers. Too many variables from fluid manufacturer to fluid manufacturer to have one magic potion that will cure all your ills. Why not just buy what one group of engineers put tons of engineering and funds behind to develop instead of adding some crap to it thinking it will all the sudden make it better than they designed it?

the MTX-IV holds 3 quarts. Its much easier to change fluid if you have a drain plug installed.

I've got 17000 miles on one tranny with synchromesh and I just switched hers to it and she has 218000. They shift smooth and easy with little to no effort. GM Synchromesh is designed for manual trannies only and even though it is $10.00 a quart it is well worth it IMO.

I had over 200k on my trans when I put in the syncromesh. Now, over 5k later, still shifting GREAT! It was a major improvement.

yes, its a gm brand of tranny fluid that from what I hear makes the mtx's shift really smooth.

You can't get it at any autoparts store. GM Synchromesh is dealer only.

Yeah, I really dont know why ford reccomends the AUTOMATIC transmission fluid for these tranny's I mean it is a MANUAL, and weird, the ATX fluid made my shift horrible. Its so odd that the MTX synchromesh fluid makes it work better.. jeez i'm stumped.

I dont care as long as it works and doesnt hurt anything. I was thinking last night aht if i put that fluid in or the moble 1 and the shifts are smoother how can it hurt. That means the metals are not binding as much so it would actually cause less wear. Correct me if im wrong.

GM isnt the only one to make syncromesh. I got some from Amsoil that I"m gonna be putting in my focus, and possibly my SHO too. I've been running synthetic trans fluid in the focus' MTX-75 since 75k and it now has 124k. Will prob change when I do the clutch soon. I'll do the SHO when I do the 120 k service in a couple months after its paid off and I have money for parts. I'll let you know how the Amsoil brand does.

i've been a member on honda-tech for a few years now and there was a discussion on there that went something like this..agreement wise

gm syncromesh makes rough shifting trannies shift smoother because of the friction modifiers, making silky smooth shifts at the expense of the life of the synchros and other parts inside the tranny. the tranny might not last as long as it could have without the friction modifiers but it will shift a whole lot smoother and is this tradeoff worth it?

discuss..

I don't think the synchromesh will reduce the life of the trans, i mean it already was shifting like crap so its days were numbered, if anything it prolonged its life.
