I felt the power of 220 horses tonight!!!!!! :D
Terry, who just happens to be... THE MAN!! who did my 60K, advised me to disconnect the y pipe from the catback and try 2 things.
1. Launch at 3000 rpms, and
2. Run it past 4000 rpms.
The launch was unbelievable eek! ... then I went to the main road... WOW... my sho pulled so hard, even at 6500 rpms, it was still moving like a freight train eek! . I did not want to shift!!! NOW I finally know what an MTX SHO can do. I had to share my news with you guys, you all were so helpful with me and my sho. Absolutely UNREAL.
Now, I just need to get whatever is restricting the exhaust fixed. The mufflers are fairly new. I guess I need to go to a muffler shop :( ... what do you think?

That's great news. Glad to hear the power was there. Didn't a few members say something about the leafblower through the catback test? Did you do it with any results? Just curious because I swear Scott and others said something along those lines.

luigisho, yes you are correct. I tried it, but it was very difficult to do. One, it was hard to get leverage to hold the blower TIGHT to the pipe (especially on the floor of my garage), and two, I wasn't sure of what kind of sound to listen for. I admit, I should've persued it more. Especially in hindsight... ie. restriction sound at high rpms, cats removed and no change in sound or performance. But being catless and with fairly new mufflers, I dismissed this notion. I still can't believe it... this restriction was tying up 90 horses. I could feel the flowing of the exhaust with my hands (at idle), I would think with that kind of performance ****, there would be NOTHING coming out the pipes. Oh well, I am just GLAD the saga is over!
But, hey at least now you know how to do the front end 60K!
AMEN!
jr's sho, you need to get the 60K video by Mark N. (for about $20). It is priceless!
So, will a muffler shop give me the time of day ,if I am catless?

Hey, get a Borla catback and you can write to them telling them it gave you 90 horse on your SHO! Maybe they'll put that in their ad! LOL! :p

As long as they weren't the ones who removed the cats they shouldn't care. It's not their job to be the police so if a shop gives you a hard time just find another one.

May your muffler bill be cheap and may your exhaust sound sweet! thumbs_u

Yeah. I was wondering if there was enough air going through to make it difficult to make the call. Sounds like a tricky one man operation there. Glad everything worked out.

Rick, I really appreciate your concern for me and my Super High Output wink car. You were very helpful and quick to respond to my posts (the night I was doing front end work.) I also appreciate very much SEVERAL other people. A lot of you guys were VERY insrumental and helpful in recovering my Super High Output wink Taurus. ( I think I will change mt forum name to Super High Output wink !) Anyways, you guys are GRRRRRRRRRREAT!
So, I go to the muffler shop and I tell the tech. my story. His first words when he looks under my car are "you got CHEAP mufflers... these are your problem... I can hook you up some Ravins (I think) for about $300 (they are stainless steel). You currently have economy mufflers... JUNK!" I'm like, "I would hate to pay that much and still have a slow sho". He offered to cut off my mufflers and for me to take a spin. I did. Still slow. So they do a backpressure test and it does NOT read good. They start dissecting my whole catback. Sure enough... right before the pipe Y's to route the mufflers, chunks of "charcoal" fall out, along with a "hair net", along with a shoelace. ALL parts of broken up cats. He replaces my resonator (the 3 foot straight pipe) and welds everything back together. Charges me $65 and I am on my merry way! My SHO is given a CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH! :D

It is posts like this that bring a smile to my face. After all the BS that goes into running this site seeing one post like this makes it all worth while.

To see many members come together and help another member out is priceless.

DK, enjoy your new found HP dude!
