I recently picked up a 1991 mtx SHO with 102,000 miles. It is black/black with full leather interior. I've subsequently (doh!) come to the conclusion that an mtx is not the most pragmatic vehicle for my family. As such, I would like to trade it for an atx SHO of comparable quality.
Though I picked the car up with some problems, I have put some work into rehabilitating her, and I feel I am offering a very decent vehicle.
What I can offer
The Good
Strong motor and transmission
Strong brakes
New Monroe quick struts
New Endlinks
New tie rods
New control arms
New belts
New dynomax catback
New battery
Very clean back seats
Passed CT Emissions two weeks ago
The Bad
Fading paint
Dent on trunk
scratch on passenger side rear
Crack in center of drivers side front rim
The usual rust spots
Missing antenna
Interior lights do not work (unknown reason, may be bulbs, possibly purposeful)
Missing panel right above ashtray
Missing something between overhead lights
Fog lights need to be replaced
Rear door drivers side does not open (locking mechanism broke off)
Somewhat cracked front seats (not terribly, but I wouldn't call it “the good”)
The Unknown
Has an amp and cd player (Depending on what you're looking for, I guess this could go either way)
Unknown date of last 60k service
When it's cold, very rarely struggles for gas, but never stalls out. When it’s warm, there is no problem.
What I would trade for
While my car is not perfect, it is drivable immediately, and doesn't necessarily “need” work done any time soon. I would want a similar vehicle in return. I have no interest in picking up another SHO that immediately needs to go in for repairs. If there is a small problem with your trade that makes it non-roadworthy, I would expect it fixed before the trade occurs.
I believe my car can be a daily driver for several years. I purchased it for this reason. I would want a car that you have faith in to do the same.
I would strongly prefer a Generation II, but would consider a Generation III. Please note that proof of welded cams is a requirement for a Generation III trade.
Viewing and Shipping
I am located 10 minutes outside of Hartford, CT. I am willing to travel up to four hours (one way) from here. Anything further, and it's on you to make up the difference.
I will only travel to trade. I will not travel to show. If you want additional pictures, just ask. If you want to ask a more established shoforum member who is closer to me to check it out for you, he or she is more than welcome to come inspect the vehicle at my residence.
I may be willing to consider shipping IF we can find a company that will run round-trip and let us split the tab. However, I am not crazy about spending any more money at this time, and so the vehicle would have to be worth it.
