I got a motor swinging, I think i'm going to take a nap in the engine compartment. Going out for a fresh case of beer, and gunna put this beast all together tonight.

Also I did get a good look at my flexplate. Isnt that supposed to be centered? Seems the place that did it didnt center it right. And some how I got peices of shop towels behind it.. wtf?! Oh well.. :) Actually this thing looks like it is way easy, and I just worried myself way too much. Glad I asked as many questions as I did, and once again, I'm greatful for all of your help! Pics comin in a day or two..

There are issues with everything you are doing, This car will never go 5 miles again without professional help. I'm taking bets it won't go that far. Bet against me!

Had to dig it up and say there are now 45,000 on my motor / trans combo. So Paul, you were wrong. I've only had a starter go out, and an alternator. No motor issues yet to date. :)

I hate digging up old threads but yea... lol :p

Whew, they are in a few places.... in the middle of a photobucket account with 1500 pics.. here is the motor build..

Motor4

P1000503

P1000514

Drove that around for about a year, and instead of tackling the rust problem... I found another body to use from a seized up SHO out of California..

P1060612

Cleaned it up after I gutted the old motor trans, cut a hole for my 5 speed, yadda yadda...

P1070090

Stuffed it all back in...

P1070184

Fixed a braking problem after I added some heavier wheels and tires..

P1080941

And this is what I'm left with. 30 MPG on the highway, paid off, motor just now breaking in good, and I know I should be fine for another 10 years until the rubber starts to rot again. :)

P1080863

P1080657

:)

Very nice!! More details on the engine build? I like the stance of the car, tinted windows, wheels, and SHO brakes. Very clean engine bay. A lot of hard work paid off!

Well.. engine itself was a NOS short block I cleaned up, put new brass freeze plugs in, and checked for any sort of issues. Sent my heads of the 180k mile engine to a machine shop, had a 3 angle valve grind done, replaces the valve guides, and stem seals, got everything re shimed to spec, and tossed those on. Engine has every bolt on short of cams including a 4 pulley udp set I aquired over the years. But other than that, I just did a lot of simple things like replacing all the rubber vac lines, and little hose clamps, sourced some stainless steel cap screws for a lot of the intake stuff. Found other suspension goodies, and the brake setup from the wonderful people here on the forum.

And.... actually I think the first reply was somewhat accurate, because I did have a lot of help from here and from people I would call pro's around a SHO. Couldn't have done it without the forum, thats for sure.
