Hey fuel cells are a real thing. Its just currently too volatile. Think about the soccer mom who is gassing up while on her phone and drives off with the pump still connected. It already happens and might cause small fires...hydrogen is just a bomb waiting to go (think Hindenburg, lol). Youre dealing with pretty dangerously high pressures that has some disastrous potential. No, so not yet. They have to build the tech the same way the Army develops and fields equipment....its gotta work, and be reliable for the lowest common denominator (ie...the idiots out there)

They are able to strip the H out of H2O and that produces the hydrogen fuel. Pretty cool actually.

I still see an equal of amount of sedans, as I do trucks/SUV's on the road (in my area at least).

And, I just purchased (yet another) new sedan.

I don't buy the hype behind trucks being the only option moving forward. It's crap.

The claim that FORD "has our back" is a farce.

They only have THEIR BACKS exclusively.

As evidenced by their own greediness to support, market, and sell a higher profit margined vehicle, versus being inclusive and supporting all aspects of each vehicle category.

I don't need a mfg'er telling me what I need.

Thus why I'll continue having to be forced to take my money elsewhere. Which is a direct outcome of FORD completely abandoning the car/sedan market entirely.

Fortunately I had (and continue to have) options to select from, from other makers. Foreign, or otherwise.

They follow the money which comes from the consumers. If people bought sedans by the million per year, they would still be making them. The fact that GM and Chrysler are doing the same thing...... Makes it crystal clear. When Ford survives another crashed market, it's because they monitor the market and know what pays the bills. I've researched the heck out of all the primary players. Ford is super economical to own and modify by comparison. They also set the mark to beat for the competition. Ford gt vs? Raptor vs? Electric suv, Electric truck, electric mustang, all the hybrids, the broncos, the upcoming mavericks, etc etc etc.

Let's see a mod breakdown cost wise for any foreign brand to hit low 11s. Remember apples to apples so whatever sedan vs whatever sedan.

I mean look at the lack of advertising the Taurus alone had. Not much. Which is a conscience choice on the mfg'ers part.

Which therein alone, lies part of the problem. They choose to market only those that have a higher profit margin.

Which then goes back to your claim of FORD "having our backs". Entirely inaccurate at best.

Moving along, not every truck owner races their trucks. So your point on comparing which one will hit 11's, is a nonfactor.

It's ok that not everyone agrees with you. But I suspect you'll continue to keep trying to prove your point. Which is fine. Meanwhile, I and others who don't wholeheartedly embrace the whole mantra of trucks being shoved into our faces, will continue looking elsewhere.

The fact I currently own (now) 6 sedans is a testament to that. Glad other mfg'ers are wise to continue offering options other than trucks. Ford will realize that eventually. Perhaps albeit to late.

So what does either option have to do with your posts pertaining to sales volumes? Of either platform?

And you've mucked up this entire thread since your 1st post here, which pertains to the OP asking what is the next vehicle to occupy your garage given FORD having abandoned the car market?

Not a discussion on why sales of sedans are down, or why trucks are up, or even what occurred in the past to being us to where we are now, etc.

Well, with alternative facts in full force...
A truck was next in my garage, because for every reason it made sense.

If I was going the sedan route, I'd go German. There's literally no competition. Audi S8 with apr mods means 10seconds and 700hp. Full weight all options. True class leading awd for year round driving. Plenty of room and space. True luxury in materials and fitment.

Honda civic is the common car on the road, followed closely by the Toyota Corolla.

Bottom line is, Ford has decided they can't do economy cars as well as other auto makers.

Mercedes, Audi, Genesis, Cadillac, Hyundai Sonata or dare I say it, Kia, even the Stinger, all really decent rides. The first four we know are moderate to extremely pricey. But they all cater to the consumer more or less. Or if it isn't a giant POS, the new Bronco? I've owned every body style of Bronco ever produced and only disliked the big one.

So after The S550 is paid off, I'm sure I'll be looking again. Maybe a low mileage last run SHO.

Being as I JUST got the SHO?


Hopefully, nothing soon, lol. I drive cars till the wheels fall off. I started driving in 96, and have owned 3 daily drivers in that entire time. I don't count project cars. My current daily is a 2010 Nissan frontier, light pickup truck. Wanted an old ranger, but they're hard to find in good condition, and the new ones are too big and expensive. Looked at Tacoma, but then this truck came my way, too good a deal to pass up.

If I WERE in the market for a new daily...it would be another truck. Because at this point in my life/career, I can afford one. And I own my own house, and I do my own work. Which requires lumber hauling capability, etc.

I was looking at those 3.2 turbo BMW 3 series at the time I discovered the SHO. Easy motor to get into the 400hp territory.

I own four Fords: 2013 SHO, 2016 Fusion, 2006 F150 and 1986 SVO. With the exception of a GT350, Ford has nothing that I would want to buy. My truck will last forever and I like the SHO for luxury/performance. I would like to buy my wife a new "small car". She has a Nissan that recently got rear-ended/totaled. She likes small cars and Ford has nothing for her.

After driving the SHO, the next might be either an Audi RS5, or one of the Lexus sedans even if it mean going back a few years due to the price. My brother's a retired baller and picked up a Lexus LC500 and the thing just sreams quality. As much as I hate to say it, the interiors and cars Lexus puts out in general that I have access to in the fleet puts our domestics to shame.
