I am going to regret this, but I have had my fun and it's time to go in a different direction. I am putting my 1991 Plus up for sale, and I am letting the SHO Forum have their first crack at it.

I have had this car for about a year, and I purchased it from the Editor In Chief of Autoblog.com. It was featured in their 2010 Taurus SHO review:

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/14/review-2010-ford-taurus-sho-gets-measured-against-the-original/

Taurusshoreview 37 opt 1252897402

The car is stored during the winters, NEVER driven in the rain, and has been enthusiast owned since day 1. Full maintenance records available, including over $3,000 of maintenance at the 60K mark at Performance Plus in Madison, WI. Current odometer reading is a few clicks shy of 89,000 miles, verified by CarFax.

This car is in excellent condition - easilly the best Plus I have seen for sale in a decade. I want it to go to an enthusiast, PERIOD.

I am a bad news first kind of guy, so lets start with The Bad:

Honestly? Not much - this car has had most of the typical SHO issues taken care of. That said, there are a few concerns.

1. Like all 1980s Ford products, the paint on the roof is starting to go, a couple of ping-pong ball sized areas. It would be easy to overlook right now. The car stays in a garage and is only driven during the evening hours. It's my "ice cream" car. I would want (and hope that) the new owner would invest in sanding down the roof, re-priming it, and repainting it to bring it up to the standards of the rest of the car. I would also expect the hood and the trunk to eventally need this same treatment, especially if you keep it outside (which I do NOT recommend). Additionally, there are some minor dings here and there, all minor.

2. The A/C is dead. I believe it needs new lines and a recharge.

3. The drivers side trans seal is leaking. It was on the list of to-dos this spring, but I want to sell before I fix it. Its maybe a drop every other week.

Now I am starting to really pick nits, but...

4. The seats are in great shape, but still cracked and will continue to deteriorate unless something is done. I have a leather guy who will refinish the leather seats for about $150 per seat - cheap insurance against ****** looking seats in the future. I'd look into this. I have done a deep cleaning and conditioning to preserve as much as I can. There are NO tears, NO holes, and NO split seams.

5. The sunroof shade is flaking. I just retracted it and ignored it.

6. The original JBL Audio system was dead thanks to an inop CD player. I removed all components and replaced with a Gen 2 JBL audio system that works. The backlighting doesn't match too well at night, but I did retain all the original parts if you want to try and replace it.

And that's pretty much it. Overall, it's in excellent shape, roadworthy, and reliable.

The Good?

Everything else. No accidents. ZERO RUST ANYWHERE. ALmost everything works (save for the A/C). The car does not need any high dollar expenses. Even the keyless entry works. The HVAC module was swapped out with a fresh, no-cracks unit. I have the original (somewhat cracked) unit. The shift **** was swapped out with a brand spanking new NOS unit and is in like new condition. Don't ask me how the PO pulled that one off. Original shift **** is in the glove box.

The car is a true Plus package, with the fiberglass hood, and rear spoiler. Additionally, this is a rod shifter car.

Included with the sale are various NOS parts such as brand new Ford headlamps, brand new Plus mirrors, a painted Police grill (installed on the car), the original Jewel Green grill in a box, and a third spare unpainted grill. I also have a full set of new brake rotors for it, front bra for it (Colgan, maybe? I don't remember) as well as the Press Package from the 2010 SHO launch including die cast car, Taurus SHO t-shirt, and the SHO club calendar with the car featured in it.

I also am including a full set of Gen 1 factory Ford Manuals with the car.

I am looking for $5,000 for the car. Considering what I had to go through to find one of these, and what the market looks like now, I feel this is fair. To my knowledge there is only one other Plus in the country on par with mine.

Location: NW Chicago Suburbs.

I am a SHO enthusiast, and I want this car to go to a SHO enthusiast who will treat it with love, and respect. I want whoever buys it to drive it sparingly and treat it like a collector car, because that's what I feel the SHO will eventually be. I really don't want anyone to buy this car and press it into daily driver status. I know some people might not want to hear that, but I am just being honest.

SHOs are special to me, and the 1991 Plus has a very special place in my heart.

PM me for more info, or to request an appointment.

That is without a doubt one of the nicest remaining G1 SHOs in existence, and a green plus edition too! I applaud you for wanting the next owner to be a true SHO enthusiast. Clean well kept G1 SHOs have definitely reached 'collector' status and are becoming very hard to find.....

I also want to say I'm slightly negotiable if you are a SHOforum member. I want this car to go to a SHO enthusiast.

The car is in great shape, but if you press it into Daily Driver status the niceness will wear off in a hurry. That's why I am being careful with where I advertise it and to whom.

Honestly, if I end up keeping it it won't be the end of the world. The only reason I am selling it is because I purchased a 2013 Golf R, which is another limited production model and I want to focus on that now.

PM me if you want to make me an offer. I am slightly negotiable, but again - I am pretty sure this is the nicest 1991 Plus left.

Apologies, but I won't consider delivering, sorry - I just don't have the vacation time. The car was originally from Columbus, by the way.

One other point I forgot to mention: A full set of Gen 1 factory Ford manuals are included.

You and me both. I was hoping for a quick sale, but I may be in for a long wait. Doesn't seem to be a lot of interest here. :(

It's on eBay now.

Thanks for the props. Took her out last night for a little spin. Still such a glorious car.
