I have used good windshield from junk yard and need to put this into my 92SHO.
Any tips, need a glue?
Glass shop does not want to do the job until I'll buy windshield from them!
Looks like I have to do this.

AFAIK it would be a major PITA to replace it yourself. I know it was to get them out of cars at the junkyard shrug

Sorry I can't be of further help.

Find a guy that works at a glass place (not the owner) and pay him as a side job. IIRC they sell windshield sealant in a spool of black tar adhesive type stuff. You need to make sure all the glass that contacts the adhesive is free of all debris and clean--not to be touched by bare hands. The oils on your hand can affect the seal.

Did you take the windsheild off of a car with a STOCK windsheild? Did the car have AC in it? Does it say Carlite or PPG? What numbers? Does it match SHO specs?

If not or if you are unsure, break it with a hammer and go get one from a reputable company.

Make sure of this stuff first. Then look into having it installed. A windsheild is NOT as simple as a piece of glss. It has to be the right shade and color to insure adequate A/C in the summer and adequate glare reduction.

When it comes to a large, heavy piece of glass that blocks the wind and bugs at 70+MPH, it is best not to "get cheap". My advice, as is that of most others, is just pay the money and have it professional done.

UMm your insurance should cover you getting a New one for free, with no points or anything added to you. Why go for used?

Get it done correctly, do it right the 1st time, and don't have to worry about it again. (warranty)

Nope. I got the proper spec SHO windsheild (some tauri have it, but not all. check the numbers on the glass and compare to the suggested specs) for $169. Installed. It was worth it.

Does anyone have the correct glass specs to compare with? I did the search thing and found nothing...

Please don't try installing a windshied on your own. I paid $150 for a professional to come to my house and install a new one in less than 30 minutes. Well worth it.

I agree. You'd have to get a Ford service manual or go to a dealership for the proper specs.

I'm agreeing with everyone else- have a pro do it.

Believe it or not, the glass in a car is a major part of the roof's structure.

Don't quote me on it, but I read that it's like 30% of the strength that keeps the roof from collapsing during a rollover... eek!
