So I found out the deactivator switch is the problem with my cruise control. I unhooked and jumped the switch and the cruise works. Will it hurt anything to leave it unhooked and jumped until I can find another one? Also do they come off, I am unable to get the old one off so far. Does anyone have a part number or source for these things, it have proven elusive so far.

Junkyards are your friends! :D That's the only place I can think of because Ford has a problem with making things obsolete. :( Since that part is not widely purchased it is probably obsolete(Although it might not be a bad idea to try the dealership and tell them what you are looking for. they'll give you the part number.)
