Nope, that won't work either. (I've tried it). If you already have the unit you may want to hold on to it. Blue hard button units with all the correct buttons are kinda rare. You can get a green one from a 94 or older Contintal and swap the blue buttons over. I would not hurt to try the '95 unit in your car. I know the 96+ Cont. units don't work so logic would say that the 95 would not also.

iirc in 96 ford/lincoln/merc went thru a electronics and wiring change along with changing some generations of vehicles...i hop it works, i alraeady have it, im just too lazy to put it in today... im pretty sure the display is green on it, cuz the battery was still in the car along with the keys when i pulled it...it turned on for a sec and shut off, and im pretty sure the display was green, not blue.

The Contentals went from a Taurus platform to a different platform in '95. There electronics were the same as a Taurus until '94.

Mine are blue and unless you have changed yours, yours are blue. The blue is really more teal but the green ones are really GREEN. The color does not determine if it works, it the electronics inside.

I'm brainstorming now, so please hear me out....has anyone ever tried repairing/modding the EATC buttons themselves? My buttons all work, the faces on them are just cracked. So I'm thinking about some sort of small finely-crafted "panels", cut to proper size, one for each button, with the proper identification ("Vent", etc) etched on each panel. These little panels would fit over the face of each old button and be carefully glued to whatever is left of the old button face.

I've never had the EATC apart and I really don't know how the buttons work, so I'm not real sure what I'm babbling about here is even feasible. I know the modded buttons would probably not show up well at night, but I think I could live with that.

Is this a pipe dream?

NY for now, WY for real
DrDave (in the post above) gave instructions on how to use the FACE of the newer ones with the BODY of the old ones.

He offered to make me one for about $100, you might try messaging him.
